Content creator Karl Jobst alleges that Joe Rogan filed copyright claims against his video discussing the alleged cheating incident involving Elon Musk’s video game, asserting ownership over the material.
Karl Jobst stands out as one of YouTube’s major contributors within the speedrunning community, publishing videos that chronicle this pastime, expose instances of cheating, delve into the background of games, and offer a wealth of additional content.
On the 28th of February, Jobst shared a fresh video discussing Elon Musk’s ongoing debates concerning his achievements in Path of Exile 2, Diablo 4, and his assertions as an expert Quake gamer, all while he is the founder of SpaceX.
Nevertheless, the video that garnered close to a million views after its upload, faced a copyright claim as stated by the YouTube content creator. Unable to remain silent, Jobst took to a sequence of posts to publicly accuse the supposed infringer.
Speedrunning YouTuber says Joe Rogan copyright claimed Elon Musk video
On March 4th, Jobst clarified in a post on X that the entire video he made about Elon Musk’s video game controversy had been copyrighted by Joe Rogan.
He stated that the entire video featuring Elon Musk was flagged for copyright infringement by Joe Rogan, as a brief 30-second segment showcasing Rogan discussing Quake was included. He described it as a “petty” move.
The full video featuring Elon Musk was flagged for copyright infringement by @joerogan, as I incorporated a brief 30-second excerpt where he discussed Quake in it. Rather unfortunate, don’t you think?

During November 2024, a conversation about fond gaming memories ensued between Elon Musk and Joe Rogan on their podcast, and the topic of Quake was raised in this discussion.
“Way back in the day, I was one of the world’s best Quake players,” Musk claimed.
Jobst asserts that the copyright claim on his video wasn’t made automatically, but rather compelled him to take down the clip.
The repercussion caught the notice of fellow YouTuber TheActMan, expressing his annoyance about the copyright claim through a video message.

“This new generation of snowflakes love to abuse the Copyright system, I’ve noticed,” he said.
Others have encouraged Jobst to contest the claim, reasoning that it fits within the concept of fair use. However, as of now, Jobst has yet to respond to these recommendations, and Joe Rogan has remained silent regarding the accusations of copyright infringement on his video.
