As a seasoned gamer and a die-hard fan of DC Comics, I’ve seen my fair share of sequels that either lived up to or fell short of expectations. Joker 2 has certainly stirred up quite a storm among fans, and after watching it myself, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions.
Regardless of whether you loved or hated it, the Joker 2 ending is here to stay. It’s sent the internet into meltdown, but Joaquin Phoenix hasn’t weighed in… until now.

The Joker 2 ending – particularly the final death scene – was deemed “pretty good” by one person at least: Joaquin Phoenix himself.
As a gamer, I recently shared with IGN my thoughts about a particular death scene in a game that left quite an impact on me. What struck me was the sense of warmth it carried, which made the moment more genuine and heartfelt. In this scene, there’s a young character who cracks a joke, and you can tell he’s nervous as hell before sharing it with you. But I decided to listen anyway because it turned out to be a pretty good one.
In simpler terms, Director Todd Phillips, who has received a significant share of criticism for the poor reception of Joker 2, concurred with Phoenix’s viewpoint. He suggested that the ending of the film achieved something for the character of Arthur that the initial movie had not managed to do before.
I find Joaquin incredibly beautiful in that particular scene. It’s a minor detail, not the focus, you know, aside from the death aspect. The moment when he looks at the child and offers a polite laugh – it seems like an expression of appreciation for the comedy and for taking risks.
