In a new take on the classic tale, “Smurfs” centers around Smurfette guiding her small, blue-hued Smurf community out of their magical forest and into reality. This journey is prompted by the mysterious abduction of Papa Smurf by wicked sorcerers. The film is helmed by director Chris Miller, known for his work on “Shrek the Third” and “Puss in Boots.” Scriptwriter Pam Brady based her story on the comic strips created by Belgian artist Peyo. The movie hits theaters on July 18th.

Over the years, multiple movies based on the Smurfs have been produced, with the latest ones being under Sony’s banner in 2011 (The Smurfs), 2013 (The Smurfs 2), and 2017 (Smurfs: The Lost Village) that starred Neil Patrick Harris. However, in 2022, the franchise shifted from Sony to Paramount and Nickelodeon.

For more than two decades, Jimmy Kimmel has been the presenter for “Jimmy Kimmel Live” on late-night television and additionally takes on the role of host for “Who Wants to Be a Millionaire.” In addition to this, he has lent his voice to characters in movies like “Paw Patrol,” “The Boss Baby,” and “The Boss Baby: Family Business.
