Jim Carrey confirmed to return as Dr. Robotnik in Sonic 4 alongside 3 new costars

Jim Carrey will reprise his role as Dr. Robotnik in the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog 4, and two new actors are joining the movie series.

A fourth Sonic the Hedgehog movie was approved for production just before the third film, released in December 2024, hit theaters. The third movie’s end credits teased the characters Metal Sonic and Amy Rose, leading fans to believe they would play important roles in the sequel.

At the beginning of the year, it was announced that Kristen Bell will voice the character Amy Rose. There was also talk about whether Jim Carrey would return as Dr. Robotnik, as he mentioned he’d only come back if he enjoyed the script.

Okay, so Paramount just dropped the first teaser for Sonic 4, and I’m SO excited to see Jim Carrey is definitely returning! It looks like he won’t be alone either – a bunch of other big stars are joining the cast too!

Sonic 4 is bringing in some big names for its next movie! According to Variety, Ben Kingsley and Nick Offerman will be lending their voices to the film, but they won’t be appearing on screen.

Matt Berry and Richard Ayoade are the latest additions to the cast, and Keanu Reeves will return as Shadow.

Details about who the actors will play are still secret, but many fans think Kingsley could be Neo Metal Sonic, given his talent for portraying convincing villains. The initial trailer for Sonic 4 featured Amy Rose’s hammer shattering a portal, briefly revealing glimpses of the movie’s characters.

The movie features Sonic (voiced by Ben Schwartz), Knuckles (Idris Elba), Tails (Colleen O’Shaughnessy), and Shadow. We also see a quick look at Sonic’s family, Tom (James Marsden) and Maddie (Tika Sumpter), who have taken him in.

In the movie’s preview, the villain Robotnik warns that the world isn’t safe and that trouble is just starting, signaling he’s once again planning to cause problems for Sonic and his friends.
