Jenny Slate has joined the legal dispute between her co-stars Blake Lively and Justin Baldoni. As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, during the filming of ‘It Ends With Us‘, Slate had issues with the apartment she was renting in New York City for the shoot, which wasn’t suitable for her and her toddler. However, due to a high security deposit, she couldn’t afford to move elsewhere comfortably. Jamey Heath, Baldoni’s producing partner, offered to reimburse the cost of Slate’s security deposit (approximately $15,000), so she could find a more suitable place to stay. Yet, this offer allegedly made Slate uncomfortable, particularly because Heath reportedly emphasized the importance of motherhood and Slate’s role as a mother in such a way that she felt compelled to file a complaint with the film’s distributor, Sony. (Neither Sony nor Slate have responded to requests for comment.)
On February 18th, Lively made changes to her lawsuit, mentioning that two other actresses (one possibly being Slate), who were initially unnamed, would be ready to vouch for her in court. Previously, Slate had publicly endorsed Lively during the winter season, stating on Today that “Blake is a trailblazer, a reliable friend, and a source of emotional comfort for me and many others who know and appreciate her.” Here’s to hoping Slate was truthful about her connection with Lively, as they now find themselves in the same situation.
Given the recent THR article (accompanied by peculiar artwork), it appears that Lively’s dispute with Baldoni revolves around his unique Bahá’i faith, which could lead to more intrigue in the future.
