As a fan of Jennifer Garner‘s captivating performances and her indomitable spirit, I find myself thoroughly impressed by her dedication to her craft and her remarkable journey back to playing Elektra. The sheer determination she displayed in getting “Marvel fit” for her role is nothing short of inspiring.
Jennifer Garner shared a video on Instagram detailing her fitness routine to achieve the physique required for her role as the sword-wielding assassin Elektra in “Deadpool & Wolverine”. She undertook training to get into Marvel shape. This revelation was made on Monday.
In the movie “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Garner’s appearance as Elektra was one of the highly anticipated superhero appearances. She shared that Reynolds and director Shawn Levy had originally proposed the role to her during their collaboration on the 2022 film “The Adam Project.”
“I recall the instance when @slevydirect and @vancityreynolds conceived Elektra Natchios appearing in ‘Deadpool 3’ – we were on the set of ‘The Adam Project’, and they exchanged a look that could convey an idea, equivalent to 20 pages of dialogue or nuclear codes. There is an incredible artistic synchronicity between these two individuals.” (Garner wrote on Instagram)

Garner shared her intense Elektra exercise routine on Instagram, encompassing a variety of sai weapon practices, aerobic exercises, aquatic activities like swimming, boxing sessions, weightlifting, jogging, jumping rope, rowing, and additional physical activities.
“After years of not using Elektra’s sais since 2004, aside from occasionally trying to impress my kids’ preschool friends that I was secretly a ninja, I wasn’t in Marvel-level shape. However, as an impossible dream started to become a reality, my longtime friend and former stunt double, Shaunaduggins, and I intensified our training under the guidance of Beth Nicely at The Limit Fit: one session per day, along with additional exercises assigned for a second workout. We also boxed three times a week with FLVCOTHEFUTURE from Matchroom Churchil Gym. In addition to these workouts, we followed One Peloton’s Becsgentry frequently. It was #SuperHeroSummer over here, as we twirled sais in the backyard and chuckled at our creaky old bodies.”
Jennifer Garner initially portrayed Elektra in the 2003 “Daredevil” film directed by Ben Affleck, produced by 20th Century Fox. She subsequently starred as the lead in the spin-off titled “Elektra,” which was released in 2005. Both movies weren’t met with overwhelming success, but Garner had the opportunity to revive the character, joining other Fox superheroes like Wesley Snipes (Blade), Channing Tatum (Gambit), and Dafne Keen (X-23). She eventually bid a fitting farewell to her Marvel Cinematic Universe role in “Deadpool & Wolverine.”
“It wasn’t clear that Elektra and I required an ending, but Shawn and Ryan did – they excel in numerous areas, but identifying and lifting up those around them is their greatest talent. Shauna and I thrived on set with them, alongside my old friend @thehughjackman, @dafnekeen, @channingtatum, and @realwesleysnipes. Filming the fight was a blast, being there together felt like a dream. I’m proud of my friends and grateful to be part of their journey. ‘Thank you’ doesn’t quite capture it, but it serves as a placeholder until I find the right words.”
