Have you seen the trailer for Supergirl? The first preview of the movie, set to release in 2026, dropped today, offering a sneak peek at Milly Alcock’s portrayal of Kara Zor-El after her brief appearance in Superman. And if you looked closely, you might have spotted Jason Momoa as Lobo in the trailer too! Momoa has been talking about revealing his look as the Czarnian bounty hunter, and fans are already excited about his role in Supergirl.
Jason Momoa has long expressed his enthusiasm for playing Lobo, particularly after finishing his role as Aquaman. That dream became a reality when he was officially cast in Supergirl late in 2024, and now, after a playful attempt to reveal the look during the Minecraft press tour didn’t quite work out, we’re finally getting a glimpse of him as the character. Here’s what Momoa shared about the exciting reveal on his Instagram Stories.

Jason Momoa isn’t the first actor to portray Lobo in live-action – Emmett J. Scanlan played him in the series Krypton. But for many fans, Supergirl will be their first introduction to the character, and Momoa seems thrilled to be playing the iconic ‘Main Man’. Sadly, Lobo only appears for a split second in this trailer, so hopefully the next one will show a little more of him.
Meanwhile, over on Jason Momoa’s Instagram post where he shared the trailer, the comments section is lit up with fans hyped to see him as Lobo. Here are a few examples:
- LOBO BABY!!! – @sloth_fu
- Lobo gonna get a stand alone movie after this! Im calling it NOW 😂💯💯 – @juvi516
- YEAAAAAAAAAAH !!! 🤘🏽🔥🔥🔥🤘🏽 – @joshgotbuck
- Amazing ❤️👏 – @mibbs.m
- That is My lobo, mi amor ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ – @marita195925
- Lobo in the house baby 🔥 – @_.shinchu._98
It’s pretty certain Lobo will have a fight with Supergirl, but beyond that, his role in the story isn’t clear yet. The movie’s cast includes Jason Momoa, Milly Alcock, Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, Matthias Schoenaerts as Krem of the Yellow Hills, David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Alura In-Ze, Ferdinand Kingsley as Elias Knoll, and David Corenswet returning as Clark Kent, also known as Superman. Craig Gillespie directed the film, based on a screenplay by Ana Nogueira.
I’m so excited to finally see Jason Momoa as Lobo! We’ll find out what he’s up to when Supergirl hits theaters on June 26, 2026. Until then, I’m planning a DC marathon – I’ll probably rewatch his Aquaman movies and check out other DCU shows like Creature Commandos, the new Superman movie, and Season 2 of Peacemaker on HBO Max. It’s going to be a long wait, but totally worth it!
