Jason Isaacs Regrets Bringing Up Mikey Madison’s ‘Vulva’

Instead of focusing on explicit body parts, let’s discuss Jason Isaacs‘ recent clarification about his comments concerning nudity in The White Lotus. Speaking to Variety on March 19, he admitted that his choice of words may have been misleading. He explained, “I used the term ‘double standard,’ but I didn’t mean it at all. There is, in fact, a different kind of double standard – women have often been unfairly exploited, while men haven’t.”

In an interview with CBS Mornings on March 14, Gayle King brought up the scene in episode four featuring Isaacs’ character’s exposed penis. Isaacs commented that there has been much debate about this, and it is a popular topic online. He then pointed out an interesting observation: “The best actress this year at the Oscars is Mikey Madison. And yet, no one seems to be discussing her private parts, which were quite visible throughout the series.”

He further explained, “It’s intriguing that there exists a double standard for male and female actors regarding nudity.

In the film titled “The Substance“, if a woman like Margaret Qualley is shown in the nude, it would be unthinkable to discuss her private parts such as her genitalia or nipples. It seems strange then, that there’s a different set of rules applied when discussing male and female bodies, a double standard.

Isaac expressed that he was trying to divert from a personal inquiry. He explained, “I’d been asked numerous times by reporters in the same day, ‘Are you wearing a prosthetic?’ Essentially, they were asking, ‘Have I caught a glimpse of your real penis? It’s crucial for me to know if I’ve seen it,'” Isaac shared with Variety. “It seemed odd and slightly compulsive to me. I thought I could handle it playfully, but I handled it clumsily.
