Jamie Lee Curtis Honored By Lindsay Lohan and Jodie Foster at Disney Legends Ceremony

As a seasoned movie critic with decades of industry knowledge under my belt, I must say that Jamie Lee Curtis‘ induction as a Disney Legend is not only well-deserved but long overdue. Her illustrious career spanning five decades and numerous iconic roles has cemented her place in Hollywood history.

It’s now officially confirmed that Jamie Lee Curtis has earned legendary status: she was honored as a Disney Legend at the D23 Expo on Sunday.

Lindsay Lohan showcased a collection of Jamie Lee Curtis’ iconic film characters, expressing to the audience, “It has been an honor for me to collaborate with Jamie Lee Curtis. What makes Jamie Lee Curtis extraordinary is her ability to remain timeless, as each character she portrays is distinct and brings something fresh to the role. I consider myself fortunate to have Jamie as a friend, and I am grateful to work alongside someone I respect so deeply.”

As a devoted movie enthusiast, I left the audience spellbound when Lindsay Lohan introduced the legendary figure, John Travolta’s Curtis, moments later. Reflecting on our shared experiences growing up in Tinseltown, I reminisced, “Jamie and I have quite a few similarities.”

“Here are some interesting facts about her that might surprise you: You may not be aware that she typically has dinner around 3 or 4 in the afternoon, and she’s usually asleep by 7:30 at night. She wakes up at 3 a.m., performs incredible feats to save the world, and occasionally indulges in online shopping.” (Foster added.)

In a jovial tone, I find myself extolling the thoughtfulness, generosity, and unwavering support of this individual, who truly embodies kindness like no other. Yet, in an odd twist, these admirable qualities sometimes stir within me an impulse to express my feelings in an unexpected manner – a desire to playfully tap her on the shoulder, so to speak. Now, I ponder if such a sentiment is misguided or simply a quirk of human nature? With another laugh, I offered Curtis a heartfelt gift – a pair of Mickey Mouse ears I personally embroidered, symbolizing our shared bond and affection.

As Curtis graciously received her award (and the mouse ears), she expressed, “Legends don’t just happen; they are shaped when they are cared for, mentored, and enlightened.” Continuing her speech, Curtis fondly reminisced about her beloved Disney ride, the Carousel of Progress, encouraging the audience to join her in singing its theme song and truly ponder its message.

“A fantastic, vast, wonderful tomorrow awaits us at the end of each day. It’s a future filled with wonder, and it seems within reach, as if tomorrow is merely a step away,” she sang softly.

“Follow my lead, let’s both sing ‘There’s a Great Big Beautiful Tomorrow.’ I’ll only perform if you join me.” (Paraphrased from “Listen to Mommy. I’ll only do it if you sing it with me.”)

Right now, Curtis is busy working on the sequel to “Freaky Friday 2” for the production company. Back in 2003, she played a role alongside Lindsay Lohan in the original “Freaky Friday.” Last year, she made an appearance as Madame Leota in the live-action adaptation of the popular Disneyland ride, “Haunted Mansion.”
