James Van Der Beek Unmasked as Griffin on ‘The Masked Singer’ – Shocking Reveal!

Warning: Detailed information about Season 13, Episode 6 of “The Masked Singer,” which was broadcast on Fox on March 19th, follows.

Eagerly, I can’t stand the suspense any longer with this episode. I yearn to discover the identity behind the mask right away, and lo and behold, it was none other than James Van Der Beek, a beloved star from “Dawson’s Creek.” Last night, on Fox’s popular music competition series, he took the stage as Griffin, unmasking himself as the latest celebrity contestant.

After performing “Take Me Home (Country Roads)” by John Denver, Van Der Beek was eliminated from the competition. In the same episode, he shared about his recent colorectal cancer diagnosis: “We’ve received some news that has turned everything around. This year has been incredibly difficult, but we’ve managed to tackle this challenge as a family. I wouldn’t have made it through without them. They bring joy on hard days and are my strength when I struggle. They’re always by my side. They’re my sanctuary. My home.

In the final months of last year, I too made an appearance on Fox, unmasked, for a special episode of “The Real Full Monty.” This was all in support of increasing awareness about prostate, testicular, and colorectal cancer screenings and research.

Among the panelists, Casey Wilson, stepping in for Rita Ora, chose James Van Der Beek, while Robin Thicke favored Kyle Chandler and Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg opted for Chad Michael Murray. Ken Jeong, on the other hand, selected Josh Hartnett as his pick.

Previously, Van Der Beek performed “Rewrite the Stars,” originally sung by Zac Efron and Zendaya, during the first round, and covered “Disturbia,” originally by Rihanna, in the second week.

In the final round for Group B, Pearl advanced to the “Fortunate Half Dozen” of the show, leaving Griffin and Boogie Woogie to compete in a fierce battle known as a “Battle Royale.” Both stars performed their interpretations of “I Had Some Help,” by Post Malone feat. Morgan Wallen; in the end, it was Boogie Woogie who emerged victorious and joined the “Fortunate Half Dozen,” while Griffin’s identity was revealed.

In “The Masked Singer” Season 13, James Van Der Beek was revealed as Griffin, Flavor Flav became Space Ranger, Sheana Shay transformed into Bat, Aubrey O’Day emerged as Ant, Oscar de la Hoya was unveiled as Fuzzy Peas, and Cedric the Entertainer was unmasked as Honey Pot.

The evening at the Grand Ole Opry kicked off with Group B finalists Pearl, Boogie Woogie, and Griffin taking the stage to perform Big & Rich’s “Save A Horse (Ride A Cowboy)”. The focus of the night revolved around the three remaining contestants from Group B, as they competed for the round’s victors. Meanwhile, Coral and Paparazzo, winners of Group A, have already advanced to the “Lucky Six.

For Season 13, we’ve got our host Nick Cannon, joined by regular panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, Rita Ora (returning for her third straight season as a replacement for Nicole Scherzinger), and Robin Thicke.

For the 13th season, we have Nick Cannon back as host along with his fellow panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, Rita Ora (substituting for Nicole Scherzinger once again), and Robin Thicke.

In the new season, a character known as “Detective Lucky Duck” will make appearances to provide hints and aid the panelists in solving their mysteries. This week, Lucky Duck suggested that all three finalists from Group B share a past with Season 6’s Katharine McPhee. Additionally, he mentioned that they had previously worked together on a significant program, which could refer to “Saturday Night Live” or “Drunk History.

Additionally, the “Crack the Case” hints now provide further information about the eliminated competitors. In Griffin’s hint case, there was a reference to a football, significant in his professional journey.

As a devoted film enthusiast, I’m thrilled about the upcoming themes for “The Masked Singer” Season 13. We’ve got some exciting tributes lined up, such as a Shrek-themed extravaganza and a spooktacular Ghostbusters salute. Additionally, we’re celebrating the Grand Ole Opry’s centennial anniversary with a fitting tribute.

The Rat Pack will also make their grand appearance, followed by themes like “Voices of Olympus: Unveiling the Gods,” a vibrant Carnival spectacle, a Boy Bands bonanza, a journey through the Decades, a high-stakes “Lucky 6 Speed Guessing” game, an epic “Clash of the Masks,” and the long-awaited return of “Soundtrack of My Life.”

I can’t wait to see who will be unmasked this season!

13th season contestants concealed under masks are named Honey Pot, Space Explorer, Cherry Blossom, Coral, Fuzzy Legumes, Insect, Photographer, Griffon, Boogie Beats, Pearl, and Vesper (Bat). Further announcements will reveal additional participants.

Here were the performances on Wednesday’s Episode 6, “Grand Ole Opry Night”:

Pearl

Song: “Here You Come Again,” by Dolly Parton

Panel guesses: Sheryl Crow, Trisha Yearwood, Kellie Pickler, Carrie Underwood

Boots Hint: Powerful limb. “There’s no greater joy for me, a powerful lady, than helping others find their strength. It’s even been said that I have.

Pearl voiceover: “Many great artists have graced the stage at the Opry, but none shine as brightly as Dolly Parton. I was captivated by her just like everyone else. When I was asked to perform alongside her, my initial thought was about what to wear. To be honest, I turned up for rehearsals clueless. It turns out that Dolly had the perfect outfit on. So when I asked her where she got it from, she generously said, ‘Don’t worry sweetheart, I have two of everything, you can take one.’ And it fit! It was like a fairy tale come true. Tonight, I’ll be singing one of my favorite Dolly songs. A song that I think is an underrated gem of hers. The mere thought of her watching me perform it means the world to me. So thank you, Dolly, the undisputed queen of the Opry, for inspiring me. Oh, and for the outfit too. I still have it.

Previously played tunes: “Saving All My Love for You,” by Whitney Houston, and “Beware of the Night (Mortal Kombat version),” by Blue Oyster Cult. [Note: I’ve created a more descriptive title for “(Don’t Fear) The Reaper,” to make it clear that this is the theme song from Mortal Kombat, as the original title could be misinterpreted.]

Previous panel guesses: Regina King, Shania Twain, Joan Jett, Madonna, Melissa Etheridge

Griffin

Song: “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” by John Denver

Panel guesses: Kyle Chandler, Josh Hartnett, James van der Beek

Boots Clue: Texas. “The Lone Star State played a very big role in making me a star.”

Griffin’s voiceover: “I never thought I’d arrive on Grand Ole Opry night, but I’ve grown to appreciate country music more and more. After years in the limelight, we chose a peaceful countryside life for our family – a tranquil environment that mirrors my long-held dream for my children. Lately, we’ve been through some difficult times, but our home has been our sanctuary. My loved ones have been an essential source of strength and happiness during these trying days. I couldn’t have navigated this journey without them by my side.

Previous songs: “Rewrite the Stars,” by Zac Efron and Zendaya; “Disturbia,” by Rihanna

Past Attempted Identifications: Matthew Lillard, Freddie Prinze Jr., David Arquette, Jason Segel, and Robert Pattinson were the prior guesses.

Boogie Woogie

Song: “Something in the Water,” by Carrie Underwood

Panel guesses: Ryan Tedder, Gavin DeGraw, Josh Groban

Narration in a soulful tone: “The Grand Ole Opry’s hallowed halls have echoed with the melodious voices of legends. Yet, for me, none could match the enchanting tones of my mom. My parents were musicians who filled our home with cheerful melodies and inspiring verses. I suppose that’s where I inherited it. It seemed as if we had magic water in our household. But a few years ago, I lost my beloved mother. The silence that followed felt deafening, like an empty void. That day, I was transformed. A shadow fell upon me, and hope seemed distant. I struggled to find the will to carry on. However, my mom’s recordings became my solace. I started playing music again, and it felt as if her love filled the rooms once more. I miss her every day. Hearing her voice is the closest I can get to having her by my side. Tonight, I believe she’s watching over me.

Previously Played Tracks: “I Believe in Something Strongly Akin to Love,” by the Darkness; “Something That Makes Us Radioactive,” by Imagine Dragons

Past Attempts at Identification: Adam Lambert, Andy Samberg, Mika, Criss Angel, Neil Patrick Harris, Jason Mraz, and George Clooney
