James Spader's Ultron Returning To The MCU For Vision Series

As a die-hard Marvel fan who’s seen more MCU movies than I care to admit, the news about Ultron’s return and Vision’s solo series on Disney+ has me buzzing like a supercharged Quinjet! The prospect of James Spader’s silky voice once again echoing through our speakers as the villainous Ultron is music to my ears.

As a gaming enthusiast who can’t get enough of Marvel’s cinematic universe, I must say that Avengers: Age of Ultron took some creative leaps with the backstory of its namesake villain, but it stayed true to the fact that he was the architect behind Vision. This is why the upcoming Vision series on Disney+, set to debut soon, promises an exciting comeback for Ultron after nearly a decade in the shadows. And if the voice cast is any indication, we can look forward to James Spader reprising his role as the menacing Ultron once more.

As an ardent admirer, I’m thrilled to share the exciting news about Bryan Spader reprising his role as Ultron! In the Marvel Cinematic Universe timeline, it was Tony Stark who brought Ultron to life, and he turned against his maker by attempting to annihilate mankind. Vision played a pivotal role in the struggle against Ultron, dealing what appeared to be the final blow to his android father. Yet, since that particular Ultron’s destruction transpired off-camera, there might just be some leeway for this menacing villain to rise again.

Despite not being a mainstay in the Marvel Cinematic Universe since his debut, variations of Ultron have surfaced in films like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, with Ross Marquand lending his voice to these appearances, and continuing to do so in Marvel’s What If…? animated series.

Regarding the character of Vision, it’s confirmed that Paul Bettany will return to his role, having last been seen in the MCU three years ago in WandaVision. Intriguingly, Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) crafted her own Vision as a spouse, while the authentic Vision was revived by unscrupulous S.W.O.R.D. agents utilizing Wanda’s powers. The reactivated white Vision lacked memories, but Wanda’s Vision filled in those missing memories before abruptly leaving during their confrontation. Interestingly, although it seemed that Wanda perished in Doctor Strange 2, Deadline suggests there might be possibilities for Olsen to appear in the upcoming Vision film as well.

Showrunner Terry Matalas has taken on the same responsibilities for Marvel’s upcoming Vision series, which is set to start filming next year and will make its debut on Disney+ in 2026.
