As someone who grew up watching Christopher Reeve grace our screens as Superman, I must say that the anticipation for this new iteration is palpable. The motion poster, with its subtle reinterpretation of John Williams’ iconic score, strikes a chord that resonates deeply within me – it’s as if the melody has been passed down through generations of Superman fans, each note carrying the weight of our shared memories and dreams.
The wait for the first “Superman” trailer is almost over.
On Thursday at 6 a.m. Pacific Time, Warner Bros. revealed that they will be releasing James Gunn’s “Superman,” starring David Corenswet as the latest incarnation of Superman. This news was shared on Monday, and to excite fans, a motion poster was unveiled, which paid tribute to Christopher Reeve’s classic portrayal of the superhero.
Pay careful attention, as you’ll notice a subtly modified rendition of John Williams’ iconic “Superman” theme from the 1978 movie, played at a slower pace. Unlike the original, which is characterized by powerful horns and triumphant tones, the soundtrack for Gunn’s film offers a softer, more contemplative spin. The bold horns and brass instruments are replaced with strings, and a female voice softly sings the famous tune.
The poster depicts Corenswet’s Superman gazing upwards as he takes flight. The reds, blues and yellows of his costume blur into the background of the motion poster, creating an eye-catching, high-speed effect that makes it seems like Corenswet is zooming into the sky. The tagline reads, “Look up.”
Warner Bros. unveiled a brief sneak peek featuring the Superman emblem, hinting at the forthcoming trailer’s launch date. The phrase “Look up” is repeated as the iconic “S” symbol flips from an upside-down to an upright position.
The movie titled “Superman: Superman’s Legacy” by Gunn, originally known as “Superman: Legacy,” is set to premiere in theaters on July 11. This is the initial film launched under the new DC Studios, which are now managed by Gunn and Peter Safran. Corenswet will be seen alongside Rachel Brosnahan portraying Lois Lane, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Isabela Merced as Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as the Green Lantern’s character Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, and several others.
