As a long-time DC comics enthusiast with a soft spot for Superman, the anticipation is palpable. James Gunn’s take on the Man of Steel, set to hit theaters in July 2025, promises to be a game-changer. From what I’ve gathered, the first trailer won’t be too far off, but it also won’t be too soon – a tantalizing tease that has me on the edge of my seat.
Is there any word yet on when we might get a glimpse of James Gunn’s version of Superman in theaters next July? While an official release date for the trailer hasn’t been announced, James Gunn (who is not only the director but also co-head of DC Studios) has given us a hint about its arrival. Furthermore, he expressed his enthusiasm over David Corenswet stepping into the iconic role as Superman.
Gunn stated at New York Comic Con, as reported by The Hollywood Reporter, that we won’t have to wait much longer for a trailer, but it also won’t be released immediately. Previously, Gunn confirmed the first Superman trailer will be released in 2025.
Gunn recently shared some insights about the progress of the movie, stating that they are immersed in the stage of editing at the moment. The main shooting was completed in July 2024; however, with significant Computer Generated (CG) effects and other post-production tasks to be done, the film isn’t expected to release until all these elements are ready.
He also talked about how Corenswet is going to “f**king blow people away” in his role as Superman. “He is the movie star that everyone just dreams he could possibly be. I don’t think anyone really understands the depth of this guy’s talent dramatically, comedically.”
Apart from his acting skills, Corenswet excels physically as well, Gunn noted, stating that he might be the “most exceptional physical action actor I’ve likely collaborated with in my career.
