James Gunn confirms talks with Rocksteady and NetherRealm on new DC universe games

At a gathering led by James Gunn and Peter Safran, the chief executives of DC Studios, discussions revolved around the upcoming transformations in the interpretation of one of the most renowned comic book worlds. The majority of the session focused on cinematic and television productions; however, the topic of video games was not overlooked.

  1. Gunn and Safran confirmed that they are in talks with Rocksteady Studios (developers of the Batman: Arkham series) and NetherRealm (developers of the Injustice series) regarding new projects.
  2. During these discussions, the CEOs of DC Studios were able to see graphic materials and explore gameplay concepts from projects in the very early stages of development. Gunn and Safran told these developers what types of stories this division needs.
  3. The unique aspect of the entire puzzle is that at least some of these games are intended to be set in the same DC Universe featured in movies and series. This calls into question new installments of the Batman: Arkham and Injustice series, although considering the popularity of both of them, an exception may be made.

Regardless, it seems we’ll need to exercise patience for several more years before experiencing the initial games based on the DC Universe. Therefore, a great deal could potentially shift or evolve throughout this period.

Based on trustworthy whispers, it appears that Rocksteady Studios are currently busy with a fresh Batman game. Additionally, speculation runs high that NetherRealm Studios could be working on Injustice 3, given their recent projects being Mortal Kombat 11 and Mortal Kombat 1. It’s difficult to envision them creating three consecutive games from the same series without a break.
