Just now, James Gunn, Co-CEO at DC Studios, announced that the eagerly awaited DC Universe movie titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” has completed filming. Craig Gillespie is directing this film which features Millie Alcock, Eve Ridley, Matthias Schoenaerts, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa. The script for the movie was written by Ana Nogueira, taking its cues from a comic of the same name by Tom King. As of now, “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” is scheduled to hit theaters on June 26, 2026.
As a die-hard movie enthusiast, I couldn’t help but wonder and reach out to the man himself, James Gunn. “Hey James,” I queried, “Could you clarify one thing for me? Is it true that Supergirl has wrapped up filming?” To my delight, he confirmed, “Indeed, it has.” Grateful for his prompt response, I couldn’t help but exclaim, “Well, DC is shining brighter than ever!
In the same conversation, Gunn shared some news about the sibling project (or more specifically, cousin project) of Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, which is none other than Superman. This upcoming movie is slated for release in July. The filmmaker disclosed that the production of Superman is “more than” 90% finished, with the majority of remaining adjustments focusing on music and special effects.

Supergirl’s DCU Debut Is Heading Into Post-Production
Although the entire filming for the project has wrapped up not long ago, Momoa, portraying the legendary DC character Lobo, finished shooting his scenes ahead of schedule. In mid-April, the actor shared multiple videos expressing his joy from playing Lobo. He wrote in the caption:
Wrapping up Lobo, I’m incredibly grateful for the opportunity to embody this character. Massive gratitude goes out to Kelly Ben, Todd, and the entire crew at @iamspecialized for my one-of-a-kind Minecraft present. The pink on pink S-Works Levo bike is a dream come true! The SW motor is simply mind-blowing. Love you guys! Sending all my aloha to everyone. J.
As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I’ve just wrapped up the main shooting for “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.” Now, we’re moving into post-production, which involves fine-tuning through editing, adding music, and creating visual effects. This suggests that the promotional journey for this film might start soon, although it’s still speculation. Keeping in mind that Superman revealed its first promo image a year before its release, I expect we’ll start sharing behind-the-scenes looks by summer. Comic Con in San Diego could be an ideal platform to unveil these glimpses into the making of “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow.

DC Might Just Reveal The Girl Of Steel Soon
Despite the uncertain release schedule, there’s a growing excitement surrounding Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. In spite of rumors about film leaks, very little has been unveiled to the public. Many believe that we might get a full look at Kara Zor-El/Supergirl following the premiere of Superman, but this is only speculation as nothing official has been announced yet. Notably, some reliable sources like The Hollywood Reporter have hinted that she will make her appearance in her cousin’s movie first.
In the sequel series of DCU, the movie titled “Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow” plays a significant part in the franchise’s continued prosperity. If Superman turns out to be popular, everyone will eagerly anticipate how Alcock’s portrayal of Supergirl will maintain the positive momentum.
