If you’ve been worried about Batman’s fate within the DC Universe, put those concerns aside. James Gunn is currently working on resolving these matters with his upcoming Brave and the Bold film, while also addressing all relevant details regarding Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
Gunns is taking over to redefine the DC Film Universe following the controversial Snyderverse period, which has everyone curious about his approach towards the universe’s renowned characters.
To begin with, there’s “Superman,” a production that’s soon to arrive, featuring David Corenswet as the lead character, while Rachel Brosnahan portrays Lois Lane. However, things haven’t been looking too optimistic for our iconic Superhero.
It appears that both Andy Muschietti’s “The Brave and the Bold” and Matt Reeves’ “The Batman 2” have experienced delays, leaving fans in a state of uncertainty. However, clarity is beginning to emerge thanks to Gunn’s recent statements.
James Gunn talks Brave and the Bold and The Batman 2
Instead of saying “The Brave and the Bold has been canceled,” it seems more accurate to express that “Gunn has been occupied with bringing Superman to life, which has temporarily halted The Brave and the Bold.” However, the focus at DCU currently is on Batman and Wonder Woman.
In a recent chat with Rolling Stone, he expressed that Batman is the most significant challenge for him within the entire DC universe at present.
Additionally, I’m not personally scripting Batman, but I’m collaborating with the author who pens Batman stories. I want to ensure accuracy since Batman holds great significance in the DC universe, much like Wonder Woman does.
Besides my current tasks in ongoing projects, our top focuses are completing the drafts for both Wonder Woman and Batman stories.
When inquired about whether the DCU’s Batman film continues to be titled “The Brave and the Bold,” Gunn answered, “For now, yes, for now.
It’s clear that crafting a successful Batman story within the current continuity is no small challenge, given his status as one of the most iconic characters in the DC universe. Gunn and the creative team have their work cut out for them, ensuring they capture the right tone to match this new era.
Surely there must be a purpose behind Batman’s existence, not merely because he’s the most prominent character at Warner Bros., right? James Gunn clarified that it’s not just about making a Batman movie due to his popularity.
However, since he’s crucial for the DC Universe and doesn’t replicate Matt’s version of Batman, I’m not drawn to a Batman who is overly comedic or ‘campy.’ Instead, I prefer a more serious portrayal.
I see we’re tackling that issue now. By the way, I believe I have an approach to address it. I feel quite confident about my understanding of it, and I’m in communication with the writer to ensure our plan can become a reality.
When asked about the possibility of Robert Pattinson’s Batman appearing in the DCU, James Gunn replied, ‘I wouldn’t rule it out entirely, but it seems quite unlikely.’ (via: Rolling Stone)

From a passionate fan’s perspective, the possibility of Robert Pattinson’s Elseworlds Batman intersecting with the DC Universe is not outright denied, but it seems rather improbable.
Gunn mentioned that it’s something worth pondering over. He implied they’d need to carefully consider it. He emphasized this by stating they’ve talked about it before in relation to Reeves.
Later on, I clarified, “I’d never rule out anything completely, but it’s extremely unlikely. And let me assure you, The Batman Part II is definitely not being shelved.
Everyone keeps saying that The Batman Part II has been canceled, but that’s not true. We simply don’t have a script yet. Matt is taking his time to ensure everything is done right. Let him continue working at his own pace. Sometimes people can be unnecessarily harsh. Just let him carry on with his project.
While we wait for more updates, feel free to explore the forthcoming DC Universe TV series and films, potential antagonists fitting for “The Batman 2”, and a list we’ve compiled ranking Batman movies. Enjoy!
