Jake Paul says he planned to kill himself after brother Logan cost him $30M

As a gamer who has witnessed the rollercoaster ride that is Jake Paul‘s life, I can’t help but feel a mix of admiration and concern for this resilient figure. The journey he’s been on, from YouTube sensation to boxing prodigy, is nothing short of extraordinary. Yet, it’s his ability to bounce back from adversity that truly sets him apart.

Jake Paul, a former influencer who is now a boxer, shared that he had considered taking his own life following an incident where his brother, Logan Paul, lost him $30 million due to a scandal in Japan.

Through his skills as a professional boxer, which have earned him victories against esteemed UFC veterans like Anderson Silva and Nate Diaz among others, Jake Paul has become one of the most influential figures on the internet.

Prior to his November 15 fight with Mike Tyson, ‘The Problem Child’ shared insights on his journey to stardom and brink of losing it all in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter.

In the year 2018, Logan embarked on a journey to Japan, capturing footage within Aokigahara Forest, infamously dubbed the ‘forest of suicide’ because of the high rate of tragic self-ended lives that transpire there.

As Logan wandered through the woods, he stumbled upon a deceased individual, captured the scene on video, and posted it on his YouTube account. The subsequent criticism didn’t just impact Logan, but Jake was also drawn into the controversy.

Jake told THR that he found himself caught up in his brother’s hostility. It felt as if they were saying, ‘We despise the Pauls. We dislike them both.’ It was a difficult situation for him,” (paraphrased)

The boxer claims that his brother’s actions led to a significant financial loss totaling millions of dollars for him, and almost brought an end to his professional career.

The controversy surrounding the ‘suicide forest’ significantly impacted my professional life and finances, causing me to potentially lose around 30 million dollars in business opportunities. One major deal worth 15 million dollars for retail products collapsed. They managed to exit this contract due to a moral provision in our agreement.

Eventually, out of depression, he stopped making content and turned to drinking and drugs.

“And so there I am: No money, kind of hating myself, the whole world hates me. I’m drinking. I’m depressed and not having a good relationship with either of my parents or Logan. And I was just like, ‘F**k this sh*t,’” he recalled.

Initially, I had an unconventional idea. To clarify, it was quite extreme. I was contemplating filling several gas tanks into my Lamborghini, getting extremely intoxicated, and then driving over the edge of a cliff in Calabasas, a location known as Stunt Road.

Yet, Jake chose not to act on this for a straightforward reason: he wouldn’t allow his critics to triumph over him. In essence, what each social media critic desires is to awaken to the news that “Jake Paul has taken his own life.

Instead, he switched to boxing and firmly believes the sport has been instrumental in his survival. “It offers purpose, routine, health, camaraderie – everything I lacked,” he explained. “Since 2020, boxing has taken priority over all else. I wasn’t particularly fond of YouTube; it was just a skill I possessed.

Since then, Jake not only honed his skills as a boxer but also founded his sports betting firm, betr. In fact, they’ve managed to secure the services of the well-known figure ‘Hawk Tuah’, Haliey Welch, who has collaborated with them by starting a podcast together.

Apart from that, he’s introduced a male grooming line called ‘W by Jake Paul’, which includes items such as deodorant, body wash, and body spray.
