Jake Paul reveals top boxing champ scrapped fight talks at last minute

As a die-hard fan, I’m sharing some exciting news: Jake Paul announced that he had a highly anticipated boxing match scheduled against a reigning champ, but unfortunately, it got postponed at the eleventh hour. The reason? He’s got another rematch to handle first.

Initially, when I dipped my toes into the boxing realm, several experts and rivals expressed their skepticism about my longevity in this sport. At first glance, my matches were primarily against MMA fighters seeking to expand their horizons. Yet, as the ‘Problem Child,’ I’ve managed to make a name for myself with an impressive fight record.

Originally a YouTube personality, this individual has transitioned into boxing with victories against Mike Tyson, Andre August, and Ryan Bourland in his record. He’s expressed a strong desire to continue competing against genuine boxers. His major ambition is to claim a world title.

As a devoted fan, I was looking forward to Jake’s highly anticipated match against Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez for this year’s Cinco de Mayo event. However, that fight seems to be off the cards now, due to the Mexican boxing sensation inking a mega-deal with Riyadh Season instead. Yet, it appears there are other exciting opportunities on the horizon.

Jake Paul reveals Gervonta Davis fight talks

As per Jake, negotiations were underway with boxer Gervonta Davis, who currently holds the WBA lightweight title. However, these talks came to a halt just short of the finish line after Jake drew with Lamont Roach Jr.

He said that, not only was the previous match close to the goal line, but he needs to face Lamont Roach again. He’s eager to reclaim what he lost, after which they can resume negotiations with Mr. Gervonta, as he explained to Ariel Helwani on May 19.

Jake additionally stated that if the match had occurred, it would’ve taken place in the weight class of 195 pounds, and it would have been an exhibition fight. He explained further, “It consisted of ten three-minute rounds with no limitations, other than the fact we couldn’t get it officially approved.

Initially, Jake Paul had a planned fight against Gervonta Davis at 195lbs, but due to his loss to Lamont Roach, he needs to face him again first. Once they settle that match, discussions about fighting Gervonta Davis will resume.

This weight could make for an intriguing match-up, as it’s not too different from the one where Jake typically competes. But since Davis usually fights at about 140 pounds, he would need to gain some mass.

Jake observed that boxing often involves bouts coming extremely near to taking place and then being called off at the last minute. However, he remains optimistic that discussions will resume again in the days to come.
