As a lifelong boxing enthusiast who has seen my fair share of matches from the Golden Age to the modern era, I must admit that the upcoming Netflix event featuring Jake Paul versus Mike Tyson is an intriguing proposition.
Netflix has unveiled a preview for the upcoming professional boxing encounter between Jake “The Rooster” Paul and the previous heavyweight world title holder, Mike Tyson.
The trailer for the bout culminates with Tyson (50-6, 44 KOs) and Paul (10-1, 7 KOs) meeting in the center of the ring, ready to exchange blows. The full trailer can be seen below.
On November 15 at 8 p.m. Eastern Time or 5 p.m. Pacific Time, the much-anticipated fight will be broadcast live on Netflix from the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. This event is a collaboration between Netflix and Most Valuable Promotions (MVP). The fight’s presenting sponsors are Celsius, DraftKings Sportsbook, Experian, Meta Quest, and beer brand Spaten. Initially scheduled for July, the fight was postponed to November due to Tyson experiencing an ulcer flare-up.
Netflix has earlier revealed plans for a three-episode documentary series, entitled “Countdown: Paul vs. Tyson,” leading up to the fight. The first two episodes of this series are scheduled for release on November 7, with the final episode set to premiere on November 12.
In the secondary headliner, Katie Taylor, Matchroom’s undisputed super lightweight world champion (with a record of 23 wins, 1 loss, and 6 knockouts), will be defending her title against Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano, the unified featherweight world champion (boasting a record of 47 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw with 31 KOs). This highly anticipated rematch will last for 10 rounds, each lasting two minutes. Taylor and Serrano fought each other in 2022, with Taylor emerging victorious via a split decision.
The main card will also see WBC welterweight champion Mario “El Azteca” Barrios (29-2, 18 KOs) put his belt on the line against Abel Ramos (28-6-2, 22 KOs) in a 12-round fight, as well as a six-round super middleweight fight between India’s number one boxer Neeraj Goyat (18-4-2, 8 KOs) and Brazil’s Whindersson Nunes (2-2-1, 1 KO combined boxing record).
