Okay, so it sounds like the Jake Paul vs. Gervonta Davis fight might not happen after all. Apparently, the people handling the event, MVP, pulled their application for the permit they needed in Georgia. It’s a bit of a mess, and I’m hoping it doesn’t fall through completely, but things aren’t looking great right now.
Jake Paul built a boxing record by defeating MMA fighters and other YouTubers, but after losing to Tommy Fury, he began focusing on fighting professional boxers.
The social media star turned boxer has won fights against Andre August, Ryan Bourland, Mike Tyson, and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr., and has also set his sights on challenging Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez. A potential fight with Canelo was apparently cancelled right before it was supposed to happen.
Jake announced on August 20th that he’s planning to fight Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis on November 14th at State Farm Arena in Atlanta, Georgia. However, concerns about the weight difference between the fighters, and other issues, might put the fight at risk.
Jake vs Tank may not happen in Atlanta
Rick Thompson, head of Georgia’s athletic commission, said that Most Valuable Promotions had cancelled their application for permits and special rules for an event.
Even if the fight is just for show, certain permits and waivers are still required for it to take place in Georgia.
Thompson told USA Today Sports that the public deserves to know the organization was promoting something it shouldn’t have been.

The pre-fight press conference featuring Paul and Davis was originally scheduled for September 17th, but has been moved to September 22nd.
Even though the permit for the fight has reportedly been pulled, fans can still register for a chance to buy tickets early, and Netflix continues to promote the event as if it’s still happening.
It’s still unclear if MVP, Jake, or Davis will confirm whether the event will happen in Atlanta or be relocated.
