Jackie Chan gives rare Rush Hour 4 update and makes urgent demand

Work on Rush Hour 4 continues, but as Jackie Chan puts it, they should act swiftly so that the lead actors don’t grow too old for the roles.

Initially, Chan played the role of Chief Inspector Lee in the 1998 film “Rush Hour”. In this film, Chris Tucker portrayed Detective James Carter. This highly successful action movie pairs these unusual partners to save a Chinese diplomat’s kidnapped daughter.

Two more films in the series followed, collectively earning approximately $850 million globally. Regrettably, it’s been more than 15 years since the release of the third film, and news about a potential fourth has been scarce.

In 2022, it was confirmed that Chan was working on Rush Hour 4, and since then, he’s expressed eagerness to make progress with the movie.

Chan expressed his desire for a fourth movie, along with another Shanghai Knights film co-starring Owen Wilson. He mentioned that the script is being developed and he plans to make Rush Hour 4 as well.

There’s some uncertainty about who might take the reins for a fourth installment, given that the previous films were directed by Brett Ratner, who faced allegations of rape and sexual misconduct in 2017.

Despite initial reservations, Tucker expressed a strong desire to reprise his role in 2018, stating on ESPN’s The Plug podcast: “It’s definitely happening. This will be an adrenaline rush like no other. Jackie is prepared, and we want to make sure this experience is etched into people’s memories forever.

2019 brought about rumors of a new Rush Hour movie being developed with a female lead, however, it appears these reports might have been incorrect or the project may have been cancelled.
