With the controversial series Love Story now finished, the debate around it is likely dying down. However, Katie Couric recently followed up with Jack Schlossberg, a member of the Kennedy family who publicly criticized the show. On her podcast, Next Question With Katie Couric, she asked if the show’s popularity could actually benefit him, particularly his campaign for Congress. Schlossberg responded that he couldn’t see how profiting from a dramatization of his family’s history could be helpful. He clarified that he doesn’t fault viewers who enjoyed the show, but objects to the way it sensationalized his grandfather’s romantic life while ignoring his more significant actions.
Edwin Schlossberg believes the recent show about the Kennedys focuses too much on superficial things like fashion and not enough on their family’s history of public service and advocacy for those who were often overlooked. He also wasn’t a fan of the clothes they had John F. Kennedy wearing, playfully pointing out his father was a very stylish man. He emphasizes that while the show might be entertaining, it’s ultimately a fictionalized account. In short, he finds the show overly dramatic, considers his father to have excellent taste, and dislikes plaid clothing.
