As a seasoned gamer with over two decades of streaming experience under my belt, I’ve seen it all – from the rise and fall of popular streamers to platforms banning their beloved content creators. The recent saga of Jack Doherty, however, takes the cake (or should I say, McLaren?).
As a dedicated gamer, I’ve made the move from Kick to Twitch, following my permanent ban due to an unfortunate incident involving my McLaren and a distracted moment with my phone. Jack Doherty, the streamer in question, finds himself in the spotlight for reasons not entirely favorable, but hey, live and learn!
On October 11, Jack Doherty made his debut on Twitch with a brief, five-minute stream, approximately a week following an accident where he wrecked his McLaren, causing injury to his cameraman.
“Live on Twitch,” he tweeted, announcing he had found a new streaming home.

In the river, Doherty expressed that he doesn’t have the same sense of self without his Kick viewers and sought suggestions on how to prevent getting banned from Twitch.
He wondered, “What can I do to avoid getting into trouble again, like I did on Kick? How can I maintain a positive presence here on Twitch?
As a 21-year-old gamer, I shared that I’m optimistically looking forward to getting unbanned from Kick. However, Adin Ross, one of the platform’s co-owners, stated that he would need a substantial sum of $300,000 from me to reconsider lifting the ban.
In a stream last October, Ross asserted, “If you wish to be removed from the ban on Kick, you need to provide me with 300 thousand dollars. Otherwise, your suspension will be permanent. Consider getting banned on Twitch instead.
As I hopped onto the Twitch platform not long ago, following my livestream on TikTok where I humbly asked for support from viewers in the form of donations and gifts, I’ve found myself facing a wave of humor from internet folks.
Instead of the original sentence: The outlawed inventor surprised his camera operator by gifting him an extravagant jet ski as a gesture, considering he had gotten him into the accident, made him broadcast its aftermath, and all this while the camera operator was still recovering from injuries.
Due to Doherty’s entertaining stream behaviors that have garnered him popularity, there’s uncertainty about how much longer Twitch might allow him on their platform, particularly if he attempts similar tactics during live broadcasts on Kick.
He mentioned that after the October 11 trial broadcast, he’ll be live-streaming on Twitch again. So, we’ll need to see what new content he has prepared and whether he can maintain a positive relationship with Twitch.
