Jack Black Somersaults and Sings About ‘SNL’ Return in Opening Monologue: ’20 Years Ago I Hosted This Freakin’ Show’

For the very first time in almost two decades, Jack Black has taken the reins as host of “Saturday Night Live”. Tonight, he marked his comeback with an opening tune.

To start off, Black humorously declared his unexpected departure from the hosting role. “I can’t believe I’m the first host to quit during a monologue,” he said, “but isn’t that kind of exciting? It’s a new first for us!” he added, sharing the news with the audience.

After a guitar melody started playing subtly, Black received a microphone, which symbolized his authority to emcee once more. He performed a backflip on stage before belting out: “I’m back! I’m back as the host of ‘Saturday Night Live’ again. It’s me, Jack Black! I’m hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’ again. Twenty years have passed since I last hosted this program.

Black discussed various films he’d contributed to over the past two decades within the song, such as “Jumanji”, “Kung Fu Panda”, “Nacho Libre”, and “The Super Mario Bros. Movie”. In this last production, he lent his voice to Bowser. Furthermore, a marching band unexpectedly emerged on stage during the recording session, positioned behind the audience.
