Jack Black, who plays Bowser in the new Super Mario Bros. Movie (releasing April 1st), has suggested a fun idea: a crossover with a potential Minecraft movie! He envisions combining the worlds of both films, which also stars Chris Pratt, Benny Safdie, Glen Powell, and Anya Taylor-Joy, among others.
Jack Black shares fiery idea for Minecraft and The Super Mario Galaxy Movie crossover
Jack Black recently told Entertainment Tonight about a potential team-up between the worlds of The Minecraft Movie and The Super Mario Bros. Movie.
A reporter asked Jack Black what he’d do if he could breathe fire like Bowser from The Super Mario Bros. Movie. Black jokingly replied that he’d roast some raw chickens with his fiery breath, calling it a “crossover” event. He then launched into a song, playfully worrying he might get a complaint from the creators of Minecraft. He proudly declared the song, which he wrote himself, was called “Bowser’s Lava Chicken.”
I was so excited to see ‘Five Nights at Freddy’s’, the movie based on the Minecraft game, when it came out last year! It wasn’t just about the game though – they got some amazing actors like Jason Momoa and Emma Myers involved. Honestly, the movie was a huge hit – theaters were packed and people were going wild for certain scenes online. It really smashed box office records, which was awesome to see!
The movie debuted with $162 million in ticket sales and ultimately earned around $424 million domestically. It also made approximately $537 million internationally, for a worldwide total of $961 million.
Black recently shared his interest in being involved with a new video game based on the Yakuza series. He jokingly told Screenrant he’s ready to audition, even suggesting he could play a larger American character, and encouraged Sega to contact him.
