The process for creating the Harry Potter series on HBO Max is progressing. Many characters’ actors have been selected and revealed; we now know who will portray the trio of young wizards whose journey we shall embark upon, along with the Hogwarts professors, fellow students, and some adults. In essence, the project is beginning to materialize. Furthermore, not only has the cast been set, but a portion of the scripts has also been written.

J.K. Rowling has shared her delight after watching the first two episodes of the series, describing them as “incredibly good”. Additionally, when asked if she had a hand in penning the scripts, she admitted that she doesn’t personally write anything but collaborates closely with the screenwriters instead.

Q: So you are not doing the writing for this show?

J.K. Rowling: No, but I’ve worked closely with the extremely talented writers.

It has been speculated that J.K. Rowling could potentially contribute to the Harry Potter series on HBO Max by penning the scripts, given her role as screenwriter for the Fantastic Beasts films. However, in this case, she is only overseeing the work and not writing any new material herself.

The creator and scriptwriter of the Harry Potter series is Francesca Gardiner. Prior to this role, she has worked on His Dark Materials at HBO, Killing Eve at BBC America, and The Rook at Starz. Currently, it’s her team that is responsible for writing episodes during the production of the show airing on HBO Max.

The teams are constructing sets, it’s anticipated that they will step inside soon to commence filming the Harry Potter series.
