I can’t believe it’s been over 20 years since America’s Next Top Model first came out! Now, Netflix is releasing a documentary looking back at everything – the outfits, the drama, and honestly, a lot of really tough moments for the contestants. Tyra Banks, the show’s creator, has been wanting to talk about this for a while, and the trailer is already shocking. It shows how the show really impacted the people who were on it, from things like getting invasive dental work to dealing with harassment during photoshoots. One of the creative directors explained that Tyra was determined to make the show successful, no matter what. We see clips of contestants fainting and even getting hurt on set, and it’s intense. Tyra actually suggests that the audience’s demand for more drama pushed them to go too far, which a lot of fans are questioning. It’s a lot to take in, and it’s making me rethink everything I thought I knew about the show.
A new three-part documentary series called Reality Check: Inside America’s Next Top Model, directed by Mor Loushy and Daniel Sivan, will be released on February 16th.
