As a devoted fan of “The Big Bang Theory“, I must admit that the infamous filming of Penny’s “Serial Apeist” scenes has always left me scratching my head. Kaley Cuoco, who brought Penny to life so beautifully, once referred to it as her “worst experience”. Covered from head to toe in faux fur, it seems the joke wasn’t as funny for her as it was for Chuck Lorre, the series creator.
Although “The Big Bang Theory” is a popular sitcom, it’s not without its flaws that both fans and the cast itself acknowledge. Even the creators admit that not every idea was stellar, yet they were executed and have contributed to the show’s status as a cult classic.
Kaley Cuoco had issues with certain storylines, particularly those involving the filming of “Serial Apeist” scenes. She described this as her “most difficult experience.” On The Big Bang Theory, Cuoco portrayed Penny, an actress who starred in the “Serial Apeist” movies. It was these scenes depicting the making of “Serial Apeist” that caused problems for the actress, according to her interview with TV Line.
The worst experience was filming Serial Apeist and getting covered in f–king hair from head to toe. I was like, “Really, you guys? This is what’s happening?” And Chuck just thought it was so funny. He loved it. I never understood why.
Yet, it seems that Chuck Lorre, the mastermind behind the TV series, shares the same sentiment about these scenes, as he feels they were crucial for telling a significant story regarding Penny.
In a bid for Penny to taste modest triumph as a competent actor, it wasn’t my preferred installment. Writing the challenging scenes she appeared in for a generally well-received series wasn’t our most skillful performance. Our intention was genuine – to put her in a precarious position and witness her efforts to turn things around.
Ultimately, Penny’s efforts to break into acting didn’t yield industry success, leading her to switch careers and work as a pharmaceutical sales representative instead. However, her experiences on the set of “Serial Apeist” and “The Big Bang Theory” continue to be significant aspects of her personal narrative, as well as the history of the latter television show itself.
