HBO renewed “The Last of Us” for a third season prior to the release of Season 2. However, this means we have to wait for some time to find out what happens after the shocking cliffhanger. In a press conference held on May 23rd, creators Craig Mazin and Neil Druckmann revealed they are still unsure about the roles of Ellie, Dina, Tommy, and Jesse in Season 3, suggesting that they haven’t finished writing it yet. This theory is supported by Bella Ramsey’s statement, who plays Ellie, that she hasn’t seen any scripts for Season 3 but expects to be involved. She added that her character might not have a significant role in the upcoming season, but she has a vague idea of what it’ll be about without disclosing details.
Similar to how a game might switch characters, the upcoming third season of “The Last of Us” will focus on Kaitlyn Dever’s character, Abby. At present, Dever is busy filming “Godzilla X Kong: Supernova”, but once that project concludes, it seems we may be diving into some zombie-filled adventures again. Showrunner Craig Mazin acknowledges the challenges of creating such an expansive series, stating, “It’s becoming harder to make because every episode is getting bigger.” He suggests that waiting four years for the entire season might not be ideal.
