On October 27, 2025, Elon Musk released Grokipedia, a new online encyclopedia built with over 885,000 articles created by AI. Musk intends for it to be a different kind of encyclopedia than Wikipedia, addressing what he believes are problems with bias and inaccuracies. His AI, Grok, was previously criticized in June for some of its statements about climate change, and now users are finding similar issues within Grokipedia.

Grok, an AI chatbot created by Elon Musk’s company xAI, is now helping to verify information on Grokipedia. Interestingly, it recently contradicted Musk himself, highlighting discrepancies in things he’s said publicly – a situation similar to the recent disagreements between Musk and Sam Altman.
After Elon Musk introduced Grokipedia on X, users began testing its capabilities. One person fed a Grokipedia article into Grok itself, asking it to identify any errors or flawed reasoning. Grok quickly discovered numerous issues.
People commenting on Elon Musk’s posts are noticing that Grokipedia articles seem very similar to Wikipedia, except they don’t include pictures. While some argue Grokipedia uses Wikipedia content but removes biased viewpoints, that claim might not be entirely accurate. Several Grokipedia entries appear to favor conservative perspectives.
Wired reported that the Grokipedia page on African American slavery contains arguments defending the practice and criticizes The 1619 Project. Additionally, the entry for “gay pornography” incorrectly connects the HIV/AIDS epidemic to pornography, and the “transgender” entry uses offensive language and falsely claims social media is increasing the number of people who identify as transgender.
Grokipedia, similar to any information source, gathers data from places like Wikipedia, news outlets, and content created by people – and because people have their own viewpoints, some bias is inevitable. While Grokipedia can be helpful for checking facts and doing research, it won’t ever be completely neutral.
