It: Welcome to Derry trailer sparks terrifying theory but there’s a catch

A new trailer for ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ has been released, and viewers are buzzing with a frightening theory based on the footage. However, some believe this could be a deliberate attempt to mislead fans.

This HBO series takes place before the events of the two horror films directed by Andy Muschietti, and it’s based on Stephen King’s famous novel.

The movies focused on the Losers Club during the 1980s and modern times, but the new series will delve into the backstory of Pennywise the Dancing Clown and his origins in the town.

Sharp-eyed fans noticed something in the latest trailer for ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ that hints the show could include a particularly frightening event from Stephen King’s stories.

It: Welcome to Derry trailer theory debunked

The recently released trailer for ‘It: Welcome to Derry’ is full of scary scenes, and viewers on Reddit noticed a very quick, almost unnoticeable moment near the end.

The video depicts a group of masked, armed men arriving in trucks at a dark, unspecified location. Their behavior suggests they are planning something dangerous, and the leader’s Dracula mask reinforces the impression that they are the bad guys.

People on Reddit immediately started discussing whether a recent image of masked men suggests the show will portray the Bradley Gang Massacre.

In the 1930s, a gang came to town hoping to evade the FBI, but they decided to rob the local store owners instead. However, the people of Derry confronted them, resulting in a shootout where the entire gang was killed.

Given that *It: Welcome to Derry* takes place in the 1960s, the scene likely depicts a racist group setting fire to the Black Spot, a bar known for serving Black soldiers stationed at a nearby base.

Director Andy Muschietti has revealed that the first season of the upcoming series, *Welcome to Derry*, will center around the mysterious ‘Black Spot’ incident, while the second season will explore the infamous Bradley Gang massacre which occurred in the 1930s.

He explained to Radio TU that the series will cover three major historical disasters: a fire at the Black Spot, the killing of the Bradley Gang – a group of bank robbers from the 1930s – and an explosion at the Kitchener Ironworks. Each of these events will form the basis of a season in the series.

Good news for horror fans: the new Pennywise series, *It: Welcome to Derry*, will be available to stream on HBO Max starting October 26th. In the meantime, you can check out a list of the greatest Stephen King movie adaptations, plus a preview of all the upcoming films based on his novels, and revisit the two movies that really captured the spirit of his work.
