Even before the premiere of *It: Welcome to Derry* on HBO, Andy and Barbara Muschietti have shared that the second season will jump ahead in time.

Andy and Barbara Muschietti, the creators behind the ‘It’ movies and HBO series, are planning to continue the story with additional seasons of ‘Welcome to Derry’.

In a recent Deadline interview, the Muschiettis revealed that the first season of ‘Welcome to Derry’ will lay the groundwork for season two by delving deeper into the franchise’s backstory and mythology, moving further back in time.

Andy told Deadline that a larger, overarching story will begin to unfold. He designed the first three seasons to be like the submerged part of an iceberg, hinting at a deeper narrative. He plans to expand the show’s mythology and reveal answers to key mysteries.

Andy explained that the next season will be set in 1935. He also mentioned that the ending of the current season provides clues about the overall story, which will unfold over two more seasons by moving backwards in time.

It: Welcome to Derry has not been renewed for Season 2 by HBO.

Welcome to Derry is a TV series that tells the story leading up to the events of It and It: Chapter Two. Taking place in 1962, it focuses on the Hanlon family moving to Derry and how Pennywise the Clown first appeared.

The movie stars Jovan Adepo, Taylour Paige, Chris Chalk, James Remar, Stephen Rider, Madeleine Stowe, and Rudy Mancuso. Bill Skarsgård is returning as the terrifying Pennywise the Clown.

The upcoming TV series, Welcome to Derry, is being created for television by Andy Muschietti, Barbara Muschietti, and Jason Fuchs. It’s based on the famous horror novel *It* by Stephen King. Jason Fuchs and Brad Caleb Kane are jointly leading the show as co-showrunners, and it’s a production of HBO and Warner Bros. Television.
