It was supposed to last 10 years, but will soon receive its final update. Halo Infinite is making room for new games in the series

After four years of work, development on Halo Infinite is officially finishing up. Players will soon get one final big update, and then the team will shift their focus to future Halo projects, including a new game called Halo: Campaign Evolved.

The last update for Halo Infinite

Halo Studios recently announced that their final update for Halo Infinite, called Operation Infinite, will be released on November 18th. This update will add new armor, maps, and challenges to the game, and players will earn experience points at twice the normal rate.

Just so you know, the game will continue to offer fresh daily and weekly challenges, along with rewards for ranking and fun community events. Both the free and paid versions of the 100-level battle passes will be available indefinitely – there aren’t any plans to remove them.

We’re working on several Halo games at the same time, and to make them great, we need everyone on the team fully focused and dedicated – just like our amazing community. We’ll continue to support Halo Infinite, but the current major content update, called Operation: Infinite, will be the last one we have planned for now.

Back in 2020, Chris Lee, who was then leading 343 Industries (now Halo Studios), said that Halo Infinite would be the foundation for future Halo games and that they planned to work on it for the next decade. However, that vision didn’t come to fruition, and fans noticed the lack of progress.

Halo Studios is currently developing a complete remake of the original Halo: Combat Evolved, the iconic game released in 2001. This new version, titled Halo: Campaign Evolved, will be the first in the series available on both Xbox and PlayStation consoles and is expected to launch next year.

The other titles in the series that Halo Studios is working on remain unknown.
