The storyline features a group of unconventional protagonists being compelled to work together to protect the planet since the Avengers are absent. Among them is Ava Starr/Ghost, for whom actress Hannah John-Kamen has longed to reprise her character from earlier works.
In a conversation about her MCU comeback in the movie “Thunderbolts“, John-Kamen discussed whether Ghost would continue to be a part of the cinematic universe. She mentioned that since her character didn’t die at the end of “Ant-Man and the Wasp”, she believed it was only a matter of time before Ghost reappeared in some capacity within the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In other words, given that Ghost survived her encounter with the main characters, John-Kamen expected to see more of her character in the future.
In a thrilling encounter, Ant-Man and Wasp crossed paths with Ghost – a woman afflicted by an unpredictable molecular disorder that allows her to pass through objects – who presented a challenge to Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly’s characters as her struggle for survival conflicted with their objectives. Seizing the chance to portray this character in a film centered around the title team, Hannah John-Kamen jumped at the opportunity, having long held an interest in embodying Ghost on screen.
The first time I encountered Ghost in a game, I delved into the comics, finding them intriguing. Interestingly, Ghost was male in the comic books, often referred to as ‘he’ or ‘it.’ I recall that he appeared in Thunderbolts, and I was thrilled at the thought, exclaiming, ‘Yes! They’re doing Thunderbolts!’ My agents contacted me, and I responded with enthusiasm because the idea had already crossed my mind.
In this rephrased version, *Thunderbolts* finds Ghost unwillingly joining forces with Yelena Belova/White Widow (Florence Pugh), Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian (David Harbour), John Walker/U.S. Agent (Wyatt Russell) and Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster (Olga Kurylenko). This alliance comes about after they are all apprehended by CIA director Valentina Allegra de Fontaine (Julia Louis-Dreyfus), with Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan) serving as the unofficial leader.
Thunderbolts* Box Office Projections Are Positive
As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but share my excitement about embarking on the last mission of my former villainous counterparts in the upcoming movie, Thunderbolts*. Alongside Lewis Pullman (Bob/Sentry/The Void), Geraldine Viswanathan (Mel), and Wendell Pierce, this film marks the climax of MCU’s Phase Five. With its compelling narrative, it paves the way for the next two Avengers films, Doomsday and Secret Wars, setting the stage for an unforgettable Marvel Cinematic Universe experience!
John-Kamen is part of the star-studded cast of the Thunderbolts, as confirmed by recent casting news. The cast has been enthusiastic, with the upcoming superhero movie being praised as one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s top entries. It is anticipated that the film will gross at least $70 million domestically during its opening weekend.
Thunderbolts* opens in theaters on May 2.
