Verdict on It Ends With Us

Recap

The film narrates a woman’s journey, having been brought up under the oppressive influence of an abusive father. She unwittingly finds herself in a similar predicament as her mother. Her new romantic partner starts exerting control over her life, leading to a dilemma: should she break free from this cycle by reconnecting with her first love?

Worst Parts

The film was challenging to find enjoyment from due to its mismatched tone. Presenting abusive relationships as a captivating romantic comedy seemed ill-suited, leaving us questioning the plot’s direction. The will they/won’t they dynamic lacked coherence. Performances were generally subpar, with Jenny Slate being an exception and adding some humor to the movie. However, the film failed to deliver the intensity needed and fell short in portraying the manipulative nature of the main character, compromising its credibility.

Final ThoughtsIt Ends With Us is a drag, tonally wrong movie.
