Speed opens up about mental health
After 23 days of running, Speed unexpectedly shared that he was having a tough time. Shortly after waking up, and over 530 hours into the marathon, he told his viewers he was feeling overwhelmed and really needed to speak with a therapist. He admitted his mental state was struggling.
He admitted he needed to see a therapist, explaining he just needed someone to talk to because he felt isolated and misunderstood.
Right after sharing his struggles, he asked his viewers for their support. His audience immediately responded with encouraging messages, telling him to focus on taking care of himself during the long stream.
The conversation took an unexpected turn when Peter Lenehan – a key figure in the creation of the World Wide Web – happened to reveal his identity while at a diner in South Dakota.
