IShowSpeed hits back at viral AI videos of him that look “too real”

IShowSpeed has disabled the use of his likeness in AI-generated videos after becoming frustrated with fake videos claiming to show him traveling to places he wasn’t. He’s taking steps to prevent fans from creating these misleading videos.

OpenAI launched Sora 2, a tool for creating videos, on September 30th, initially giving access to a limited group of creators. Right now, it’s available only by invitation, but several prominent content creators are already using it.

AI-created videos have sparked a lot of debate. Jake Paul quickly protested the use of his image in popular videos, and the Japanese government asked OpenAI to follow Japanese laws regarding the use of Manga and Anime content.

I’m a huge IShowSpeed fan, and it’s really frustrating to see all these fake AI videos popping up! They’re spreading misinformation about him, like claiming he’s doing tours that aren’t happening and even making things up about his personal life. It’s just a bunch of nonsense designed to mislead people who enjoy his content.

Viral IShowSpeed AI videos concern stream

During his stream on October 19th, Speed reacted to videos created of himself using Sora by saying he was immediately stopping its use. He stated, “It’s actually AI, so I’m turning it off. No more.”

The popular streamer worried that the fake videos were incredibly realistic, convincingly featuring his likeness and clothing.

Okay, that’s it – I’m ending this now. I can’t continue with this, and I’m sorry to everyone in chat, but I’m shutting it down.

Speed had to close his account on the AI platform Sora because fans used it to generate fake videos. These videos falsely depicted him coming out as gay and traveling to places he hadn’t visited.

I’ve been seeing a lot of people talk about how these AI clips are using Speed’s face and voice, and honestly, it’s kinda messed up. A lot of us feel bad for him, because it feels like his identity is being used without his permission. I’ve even seen people saying there’s gonna need to be some new laws to deal with this AI stuff, and I kinda agree – it’s getting out of hand.

However, some people immediately noticed a change. One person mentioned, “It made his voice sound deeper.”

One of the clearest ways to spot AI-generated videos, besides the visible Sora watermark, is the strange way clothing sometimes appears. For example, the Adidas logo on jerseys often gets changed from three stripes to four.
