Is Technoblade in the Minecraft Movie? YouTube Cameos Explained

Without a doubt, it’s well-known that the much-anticipated Minecraft film boasts numerous appearances by popular YouTubers. But the question remains: who ultimately made the final cut? To put it simply, the intricacy and depth of the Overworld significantly increased due to this talented team.

If you’re not personally playing Minecraft, chances are you’re taking in the game through other means. This could be tutorials from your preferred YouTube personalities or live updates directly from the creators (don’t miss out on Spring to Life). The world of Minecraft truly offers something for all types of enthusiasts.

Disregard Jack Black, Jason Momoa, and Jennifer Coolidge; instead, it’s the beloved YouTube personalities that ardent fans are flocking to see at their local cinemas.

Fortunately, there’s plenty to catch your attention. Here is the complete roster of all YouTubers appearing in A Minecraft Movie, including the reported surprise appearance.

There’s a Technoblade tribute in A Minecraft Movie

Indeed, the whispers – now officially verified – hold truth. A homage to the deceased YouTube sensation, Technoblad, can be found hidden within an upcoming Minecraft film. However, keep your eyes peeled as you’ll have to act swiftly to catch it.

During Steve’s guided exploration of his uniquely titled hamlet, “Steve’s World”, the quartet – Garrett, Dawn, Natalie, and Henry – meandered along a street. Along their journey, they encountered an unusual sight: a pig adorned with a crown among the townsfolk and other creatures. Before the pig wandered off, the group observed it, marking a memorable moment in their tour. And thus, their adventure came to a basic conclusion.

In 2022, Technoblade, a well-known content creator, passed away after a battle with metastatic sarcoma that proved resistant to treatment. Over the course of nearly a decade, he built an impressive following on his channel, amassing more than 18 million subscribers. The video announcing his death continues to be popular, having garnered over 100 million views at the time of this writing.

On March 30th, Torfi Frans Ólafsson, the Creative Director for Original Content at Minecraft, announced some news.

“That felt like the right thing to do,” he said. “You’re gonna have to see it to see what it is.”

Mumbo Jumbo

In 2021, Mumbo Jumbo was announced as the second wealthiest Minecraft content creator globally, amassing a total of $4.4 million from YouTube (approximately $2,070 per video). With an impressive 9.5 million subscribers, it’s not unanticipated if he begins sharing news about a potential movie.

In conversation with TopMob, the director Jared Hess and producer Torfi Ólafsson disclosed that Mumbo Jumbo expressed interest in joining A Minecraft Movie due to his initial aspiration to become a filmmaker being sparked by Hess’s most renowned work: Napoleon Dynamite.

As a gaming enthusiast, I connected with him, inquiring if he’d like to join our team, and he praised Napoleon Dynamite as his inspiration for wanting to step into the world of filmmaking. – Olafsson

Apart from his on-screen roles, it was also Mumbo Jumbo who took charge of designing the Redstone Mine, and many of the traps that appear in mine scenes were part of his design as well.

Initially, Olafsson didn’t want to reveal something to avoid bothering others. He then suggested, “Perhaps you could assemble a few Redstone trap mechanisms.” The next day, numerous fantastic machines appeared in our email, but we were able to utilize just a few of them.

Hess concurred that he’s one of the top minds in Redstone technology globally. During our brainstorming sessions for creating traps, he proved incredibly helpful, contributing numerous valuable ideas to our discussions.

DanTDM

Among all the cameos in the movie, this one is likely the easiest to identify because DanTDM himself revealed it. During the movie’s premiere, he announced on Instagram, “I’M IN THE MINECRAFT MOVIE with these wonderful folks. Can you find us when you go see it? I had a fantastic time at the world premiere today. Keeping this secret has been the hardest part!

He also visited the set to ‘consult’ back in November 2024, posting a video on his YouTube channel.

The channel belonging to the legendary Minecraft YouTuber currently boasts nearly 30 million subscribers, consistently putting out fresh content every week. This isn’t his first brush with fame within this gaming franchise. Back in 2016, DanTDM made a brief appearance in the sixth installment of Minecraft: Story Mode, portraying himself in the game.

Aphmau

A different way of expressing this: We’re not referring to Aphmau’s famous YouTube videos. Known as Jessica Bravura in real life, she is featured among the cameos on the Minecraft movie’s YouTube channel. Since 2012, she has been active on YouTube and now boasts approximately 20 million subscribers as a popular Minecraft YouTuber.

The content is distributed across four different platforms: Aphmau with 22.3 million subscribers, Aphmau Shuki boasting 2.96 million followers, MyStreet – One Last Time with 1.48 million subscribers, and Jessica Bravura having 1.34 million subscribers. Notably, MyStreet – One Last Time is the platform that features Minecraft-style animations and music videos.

LDShadowLady

It’s no wonder that LDShadowLady often appears in the cameo roster given her fame as a Minecraft content creator. Initially a member of an all-female gaming group called The Pixel Pact when she began in 2012, she later shifted from Call of Duty videos to creating Minecraft content instead.

As a devoted admirer, I’ve had the privilege of joining forces with YouTuber SmallishBeans on numerous single-player Minecraft adventures and Survival Multiplayer (SMP) journeys, including the captivating series like Shadowcraft and X Life.

Valkyrae

Rachell Marie Hofstetter, commonly known as Valkyrae, is among the most renowned creators on YouTube and Twitch. Unlike many others, Minecraft isn’t her sole area of focus. Instead, she produces content for her 4 million subscribers that encompasses games like Among Us, Fortnite, Grand Theft Auto 5, and other forms of non-gaming content.

In a chat on JasonTheWeen’s Twitch broadcast, she was questioned about her experiences on the Minecraft film set, and she wasn’t overly complimentary towards Jason Momoa during her response.

Valkyrae remarked that her least favorable celebrity interaction was with Jason Momoa. She witnessed him treating members of his crew poorly, which was quite disheartening.

Following a highly intense and emotional sequence on set, his behavior towards some of the crew took me aback. I’m not certain if he was still in character or not, but it appeared as though he was genuinely upset because they weren’t performing their tasks correctly. He seemed agitated, almost furious, about minor details like setting up shots, and his anger was palpable, with him shouting quite loudly.

I feel uneasy about this workplace; it doesn’t seem conducive to my happiness.

In my fangirl enthusiasm, I’d like to share some roles that Valkyrae has graced in the past. She made a special appearance in “The Family Plan,” alongside the legendary Michelle Monaghan and Mark Wahlberg. Additionally, she donned the role of Commander Red across four captivating episodes of Sonic Prime, and lent her charm to not one but two Bella Porch music videos.

Currently showing in theaters is a Minecraft film. To satisfy your gaming cravings, explore updates on The Last of Us Season 2 and the upcoming Horizon TV series. Additionally, discover new films streaming this month, top movies of the year so far, and can’t-miss releases slated for 2025.
