After the recent issues with Jimmy Kimmel, another late-night show is facing controversy. Donald Trump is now calling for Seth Meyers to be fired from NBC, following a widely shared segment about the Epstein Files. The head of the Federal Communications Commission, Brendan Carr, has also publicly supported Trump’s demand.
Jimmy Kimmel Live! briefly stopped airing in September after Kimmel criticized Trump’s reaction to the death of Charlie Kirk, a statement that drew backlash from Carr. This led to a significant discussion about free speech, and the show returned to the air a week later.
Seth Meyers is facing criticism from Donald Trump, who posted on his social media platform, Truth Social, on Saturday, November 15th, claiming Meyers has “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” Trump described Meyers as being visibly angry during his show, suggesting this was because of the show’s low ratings.
He stated that Meyers lacked talent and should be fired by NBC right away. The next day, Carr, who leads the Federal Communications Commission – the US agency that regulates broadcasting – shared this opinion on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Is Seth Meyers getting fired?

Currently, it doesn’t seem like NBC plans to take Seth Meyers off the air. Despite the attention created by Donald Trump’s post on Truth Social and FCC Commissioner Carr’s response, there’s no reliable evidence suggesting NBC is considering removing Meyers from the schedule.
I’m a big fan of Seth Meyers, so I was really happy to hear he recently renewed his deal with NBC through 2028! From what I understand, his contract is pretty solid for the long haul, and it wouldn’t be easy or cheap for either side to get out of it. Basically, Late Night with Seth Meyers is safe and sound for the next few years, which is great news!

Industry sources say NBC hasn’t taken any steps to remove him, change his contract, or find a replacement. If his contract isn’t renewed, it would likely be due to viewership numbers, not any outside pressure.
NBC likely took note of the strong public backlash after Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension. This resulted in widespread calls for a boycott of Disney – including its streaming platforms – and ultimately led to ABC quickly bringing his show back on air, just days later.
What did Meyers say?
Trump didn’t say which comedy routine prompted his post, but Seth Meyers did make fun of him on his show several times last week, including a widely shared segment about the documents related to Jeffrey Epstein.
The YouTube video, posted on November 13th, features a host discussing a proposed law that would force the US government to release all documents related to Jeffrey Epstein, the convicted sex offender.
He then pointed out that Democrats on the House Oversight Committee recently made public a series of emails from Epstein. These emails, released on November 12th, included messages where Epstein called Trump “borderline insane” and alluded to knowing about “the girls.”
When a reporter mentioned the emails brought up new questions about Trump’s connection to Epstein, Meyers quipped that it seemed like they were actually confirming things people already suspected.
I’m not a detective, but if the question is whether Trump knew about the allegations, and an email surfaces from Jeffrey Epstein stating he did, that’s a very serious and damaging piece of evidence.
Imagine you’re investigating a murder. Finding a shoebox in the suspect’s closet clearly labeled ‘murder weapon inside’ – and with a note confirming it is the murder weapon – would be incredibly damning evidence. It’s a completely obvious and direct connection to the crime.
If you ask a suspect for their alibi on the night of the murder and they give a vague, shifting answer like ‘different places,’ it would strongly suggest they’re involved, and you’d likely tell your supervisor, ‘I think we’ve found our guy.’
The host continued, stating that while Trump promised to focus on lowering costs for American workers, he’s actually been preoccupied with avoiding questions about Epstein and renovating the White House.
The speaker suggested that believing Trump cares about anyone besides himself would require incredible audacity. Immediately after, a clip played of Trump describing himself as having “pure brass.”
This video clip comes from a tour Donald Trump gave to Fox News host Laura Ingraham of the White House renovations. That same news segment was featured in a popular monologue by comedian Seth Meyers and has now been viewed almost 1.6 million times on YouTube.
Trump didn’t say exactly which segment led him to post on Truth Social, but Seth Meyers often includes criticism of the President in his monologues. Despite this, there are no indications that the show will be cancelled.
