As a devoted fan who grew up with Regular Show gracing my Saturday mornings and late-night binges, the news of its comeback has sent a wave of nostalgia rushing through me! I can still remember the first time Mordecai and Rigby’s antics stole my heart, and now, six years after their final episode, they’re back to make us laugh again!
Approximately six years following its ending, Regular Show is making a comeback on our screens with a fresh series, produced by Warner Bros. and Cartoon Network.
When Regular Show debuted in 2010, people weren’t sure it would be such a success. However, with the completion of 244 episodes and earning five Emmy nominations (and even winning one!), the show’s impact is undeniable.
The TV series leads us through the escapades of Mordecai, a blue jay, and Rigby, a raccoon, who work as park caretakers. Known for its offbeat and mature comedy, it earned acclaim among animated shows of the 2010s.
Now, news of a revival is circulating, but is there any truth to this? Here’s everything we know.
Good news… Regular Show is coming back!
In June 2024, it was revealed that a “new chapter” or continuation of the show, titled Regular Show, would be produced by Warner Bros. Animation, Cartoon Network, and Hanna-Barbera Studios, following its conclusion in 2018.
Besides Regular Show, it was additionally disclosed at Annecy that Foster’s Home for Imaginary Friends and an upcoming Adventure Time spin-off called Side Quests were also given approval for production.
Additionally, two more Adventure Time series are being worked on, along with a yet-to-be-revealed Scooby-Doofund project.
Currently, specifics about the upcoming Regular Show are being tightly guarded, leaving us in the dark regarding the potential involvement of the original voice actors and whether the story will primarily revolve around Mordecai and Rigby.
Given that the series is being marketed as a reboot or relaunch of an existing franchise, it seems logical that a new beginning is in store. Yet, there’s confirmation that J.G. Quintel, the creator, will once again take charge as the showrunner. Furthermore, it has been hinted that some characters from the original series will make appearances.
Where to watch the new series
As a passionate gamer, I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled and fingers crossed, because it seems like there might be a revival of Regular Show heading our way, possibly on Cartoon Network. However, no official announcement has dropped yet!
Contrary to any assumptions you might have, Cartoon Network is not defunct. A wave of concern swept through its fanbase earlier this year due to rumors of closure, but as of now, it continues to operate.
It’s quite possible that Cartoon Network will broadcast Regular Show. Although they don’t operate a personal streaming service, they offer an app where you can stream shows instead.
Regular Show’s new episodes might appear on HBO Max later, as the network belongs to Warner Bros. Discovery. Interestingly, you can already stream all eight seasons on HBO Max at this moment.
Either that, or Hulu might get involved, since you can also stream the entire show there too.
