There’s talk circulating that Kevin Bacon might be coming back for a new Tremors movie, supposedly airing on Netflix in 2025. However, it’s worth questioning whether this gossip is actually accurate.
As a dedicated viewer, it’s clear that classic IP (intellectual properties) continue to reign supreme in the streaming world. For instance, one of the most eagerly anticipated Netflix releases this year is the long-awaited sequel to Happy Gilmore, a movie originally released almost three decades ago – proving that timeless content never loses its charm!
With numerous horror legacy sequels over the past decade (like Halloween, Scream, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and this year’s I Know What You Did Last Summer), could there be an opportunity for another franchise, Tremors, to make a comeback? It’s been 35 years since the initial film was released, and the series has been dormant since 2020’s Tremors: Shrieker Island direct-to-video release.
Based on a recent social media update, it appears that a Tremors television show will be available on Netflix. However, I’d like to share some valuable information with you.
The truth behind the Tremors Netflix series rumor
Currently, there’s no active development on a Tremors series starring Kevin Bacon, and Netflix is not involved in the franchise revival at this time.
I’m sorry to break it to you, but it seems you’ve fallen for some misleading news on Facebook, spread by the account YODA BBY ABY. This page is known for sharing false information about upcoming films and projects, such as Pedro Pascal’s Dead Space series and Dave Bautista’s The Sims movie.
The page claimed that ‘Tremors’ will return with a new 8-episode series featuring Kevin Bacon, and it’s scheduled to debut on Netflix in August 2025; however, this information appears to be false.
Head back to the town of Perfection, Nevada, where earthquakes erupt with chaos, and colossal, man-eating worms wreak havoc in today’s world. Brace yourself for exhilarating, heart-pounding action that mirrors the wild, unpredictable fun that made the original films a beloved cult phenomenon!
Again, it appears a Tremors series won’t be streaming on Netflix anytime soon. Yet, there’s no guarantee that Kevin Bacon won’t return to the character of Val in the future – though it might take a while.
Stampede Entertainment, the film’s production team, have regained control of the rights previously held by Universal. They are currently considering potential opportunities that this change might present.
The original creators of TREMORS, Stampede Entertainment, have regained control over the initial screenplay. They’re contemplating a follow-up titled “Return to Perfection” and are thinking about involving Kevin Bacon once more in his character, Val.

Initially, Stampede clarified in a blog entry that they are not considering external concepts, but instead focusing on a sequel about the journey back to perfection, along with a couple of unusual scenarios involving graboids in diverse environments.
As a gamer speaking directly, I wanna make it clear that whatever concept we’re cooking up for Hollywood isn’t going to be a rehash of the first flick starring a fresh crew. Nope, not at all! It ain’t gonna be a remake either of our Tremors 5 script. The questions about that keep popping up in the FAQ, but trust me, we got something original brewing!
“We are considering ideas that feature the return of Kevin Bacon as Val, but no promises!”
In 2023, Bacon posted on Twitter: “I’m simply anticipating the call.” Accompanying his tweet was an emoji of a worm, making it evident that he was referring to the movie Tremors.
Hey there fellow gamers! Just wanted to share a bit of behind-the-scenes trivia. Remember Bacon’s role as Val in the Tremors series that never made it past Syfy? Yeah, you guessed it, he was back on set. Fingers crossed, someday we might get to see that unseen episode!
