Lately, there have been rumors swirling around the CBS series “Fire Country” that lead some fans to speculate if Jordan Calloway’s character, Jake Crawford, may be departing from the show. Since its debut in October 2022, Jake has played a crucial role as the captain of Station 42 on the series.
For several seasons now, Crawford has held the role of Cal Fire Battalion Captain. Recently, he expressed his desire for a promotion, specifically aiming to become the next Cal Fire Battalion Chief. This ambition was recently disclosed on the show “Fire Country” to Vince Leone, who currently holds the position.
Regrettably, those expectations were swiftly dampened when Leone informed Crawford that he had no intention of departing from Station 42, except under the extreme circumstance of his death (subtle hint?).
After being encouraged to advance at Station 42, Crawford found himself facing a challenging situation when he was presented with a captain role in Butte County, as the battalion chief there was planning to retire shortly, making the position ready for the taking.
In response, Leone said there was no imminent promotion, to which Crawford replied, “I suppose that means, Boss, I’m giving you my two weeks’ notice,” indicating his intention to depart from Station 42 and potentially Fire Country.
Jake has encountered numerous dramatic situations while working on Fire Country, ranging from battling blazes to being falsely accused of arson to venturing to Drake County to rescue Sharon.
Is Jordan Calloway’s Jake Leaving Fire Country for Good?
Although rumors suggest that Jake Crawford may depart from Station 42, it’s worth noting that according to Deadline, the actors leaving Fire Country are Gabriela Perez portrayed by Stephanie Arcilla and Vince Leone played by Billy Burke.
The final episodes of Fire Country’s third season concluded with an unexpected twist, as characters Vince, Sharon, and Walter Leone found themselves in a blazing structure with a crumbling roof. This suspenseful ending has left viewers eagerly anticipating the start of the new season to learn about their survival.
In Fire Country, it wasn’t unexpected that any of the Leones might face a tragic demise, given that Cara, Bode’s former ER nurse girlfriend, met her end in Season 2.
The unresolved situation at Station 42 might be the reason Crawford continues to depart, yet he’s expected to stay in Fire Country, as it could pave the way for a potential advancement.
It appears that Billy Burke is departing from Fire Country, regardless of his future outcomes, suggesting a tragic ending for his character. Meanwhile, since Leone left Station 42 to climb the career ladder, it’s possible he may stay on and step into the role of CalFire Battalion Chief, which would represent a significant promotion.
Indeed, when Sharon and Vince were making their way into the blazing building, she handed over control to Crawford, saying, “Here’s your chance to prove yourself as a battalion chief.” This moment could potentially be a sad and poignant passing of the baton, as Crawford’s dream role becomes available due to the possible demise of one or both of the Leones.
