What to know:
- Hold your horses! Bullish Global is mulling over an IPO as soon as this year, according to Bloomberg.
- In case you forgot, they ditched their SPAC listing last year. Oops! But hey, who’s counting?
Well, it looks like Bullish Global is thinking of going public for the first time – just when we all thought the crypto drama was over. According to Bloomberg (oh, the source of all things juicy), sources say that this might happen sometime in 2025. How exciting! 😏
The crypto exchange, which somehow also owns CoinDesk (because why not?), is cozying up with Jefferies Financial Group for this potential IPO listing. Guess they need all the help they can get.
But wait, there’s more. All of this IPO talk comes at a time when Bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptos are apparently soaring to new heights. Trump won the U.S. election, and suddenly, everyone’s a crypto enthusiast. Who knew, right? The crypto market has swelled to a massive $3.15 trillion from a mere $2.2 trillion. 🙄
CEO Tom Farley is running the show at Bullish, with a team of 275 employees spread out from Hong Kong to Europe. And did you know? Bullish is actually owned by Block.one, the blockchain company led by Brendan Blumer. Sounds like a lot of people with a lot of money, right? Peter Thiel, Alan Howard, and Richard Li are all in the mix. 🤑
Blumer launched Bullish back in 2021, probably thinking he’d just throw around some crypto and become a billionaire. They’ve got around $10 billion in digital assets and cash, so no big deal, right? At one point, they were planning a public debut via SPAC (remember those?), but then, surprise, surprise, it got canceled in 2022. Big whoops. 🙃
So, what’s the deal now? Well, the IPO talks are still “in progress,” according to Bloomberg. They’re considering more banking partners, because you can never have enough of those, I guess.
And guess what? Bullish and Block.one are playing it cool. No comments yet. Jefferies? They’re keeping mum too. It’s like a crypto gossip party with no invites. CoinDesk tried reaching out to Bullish, but I guess they’re too busy counting their digital gold to respond. 🧐
