Is Avengers: Doomsday Hiding a Shocking X-Men Twist?

It seems that Marvel has revealed which superheroes will join forces in Avengers: Doomsday, yet amidst all the exhilaration over arranging seating, there could be a crucial detail we’ve overlooked.

On March 26, 2025, Marvel unveiled a lineup of 25 actors scheduled for Avengers: Doomsday. The star-studded group consisted of longtime Marvel favorites such as Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, and Florence Pugh, alongside fresh faces like Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby, who were recently introduced in the Fantastic Four’s First Steps.

Nevertheless, it’s the comeback of several X-Men from the Fox era that truly ignited fans’ excitement, as they prepare to don their vintage leather pants once more (instead of the expected yellow spandex) for the forthcoming Marvel film.

To date, it has been announced that actors such as James Marsden, Sir Ian McKellen, Rebecca Romijn, Kelsey Grammer, Alan Cumming, and Patrick Stewart are set to rejoin the cast. It’s possible that more will be added to the roster (Hugh Jackman being noticeably missing).

Avengers Vs. X-Men

It’s no surprise that Marvel enthusiasts are ecstatic (mostly) about the latest news, eagerly anticipating their beloved superheroes joining forces to confront Doctor Doom. However, could this truly be the case?

A careful Reddit user has found a hidden detail in a photo of the chairs Marvel used for their cast reveal, hinting that the Avengers and X-Men might not always see eye to eye. On closer inspection of the image, you’ll notice an intriguing shadow on the ground.

This shadow appears to be shaped like an ‘X’ enclosing an ‘A’. On its own, this might seem harmless. However, for those well-versed in Marvel comics history, it bears a striking resemblance to the emblem that was prominently displayed during the initial Avengers vs X-Men saga, which was released towards the end of the 80s.

You might be wondering, “TopMob, this is just a chair’s shadow, nothing special,” but I have to admit, you could be correct. However, take a closer look as there may be some Easter eggs cleverly concealed within the image.

Besides the shadow on the floor, there’s a sign behind Joseph Quinn’s (the actor portraying the pyrokinetic Human Torch) chair, stating “Fire Perimeter: Stay Away.” Is it a coincidence? I highly doubt it. Some people even believe that Robert Downey Jr.’s gesture of silencing the audience might be connected to WandaVision, where Kathryn Hahn made a similar motion. While that one seems like a stretch…

Although it’s still possible for the X-Men and the Avengers to peacefully coexist, there are compelling narrative reasons that could lead them into conflict. I’ve delved into these reasons in greater detail in an article entitled “Why the X-Men meet their demise at the hands of the Avengers: Clickbait title alert!” However, to avoid revealing any spoilers, let me simply say that if the Russo brothers remain faithful to the most recent Secret Wars storyline, it’s essential for a superhero team to engage in battle with Earth’s mightiest heroes.
