Is Arnold really a protagonist of FNAF Secret of the Mimic? The answer is surprising

The long-awaited game Five Nights at Freddy’s: Secret of the Mimic has been released! This latest addition to the iconic horror series takes us back in time to the 1970s, revealing the origins of Fazbear Entertainment. We uncover a wealth of intriguing facts that significantly alter our understanding and influence the lore. At the heart of the story is Arnold – but who exactly is he? What becomes of him? Let’s explore these mysteries together.

All we know about Arnold in FNAF Secret of the Mimic

Arnold is a fresh character in the series, and he appears to be an ordinary worker. Specifically, he’s a technician employed by Fazbear Entertainment, with not much known about his background. It seems he’s underappreciated and overworked within the company. The game starts with him being assigned a task – retrieving a peculiar prototype from the workshop belonging to Edwin Murray, a contractor for a missing company.

In his investigation through the facility, he uncovers a multitude of secrets regarding Edwin Murray’s family’s tragic past and the underhanded methods used by Fazbear Entertainment, specifically those attributed to William Afton. Simultaneously, he reveals one of three possible outcomes for Arnold’s tale.

  1. When you complete the main quest, you must exit the warehouse by the garage. In this ending Arnold is killed by the Mimic and put inside a prototype suit.
  2. At the end, when you open Parachute.exe in the terminal, you get access to a secret hatch. This will lead you to the ending where you burn down the facility. Unfortunately, it is hinted that Arnold dies in the car crash and the Mimic escapes.
  3. The last ending requires you to find all 25 collectibles and play Moon.exe. This will give you Glitched Permission and lets you “heal” the Mimic.

In the game, FNAF Secret of the Mimic, we gain little insight into Arnold’s character. He plays a minor role in the overall lore, as there was no prior mention of him until now. Essentially, he serves as a storytelling device rather than the main focus. The story here revolves around Fazbear Entertainment and its events, not necessarily Arnold himself.
