As a seasoned gamer with a penchant for comic book adaptations, I must admit that I was initially skeptical about Ironheart’s deviation from the source material. However, after hearing Anthony Ramos‘ take on Parker Robbins and The Hood, my excitement has been rekindled. The idea of a character struggling with the power that comes with their newfound abilities resonates deeply with me, having spent countless hours in games where I found myself grappling with similar themes.
In the Marvel Universe, Anthony Ramos’ character, Parker Robbins, is set to undergo significant changes in the upcoming series ‘Ironheart’. Unlike his comic book counterpart, Parker doesn’t share a direct link with Riri Williams, who is the face behind Ironheart’s armor. However, Ramos assures us that while the storyline will deviate, the transformation of Parker into The Hood will remain faithful to the essence of his character.
According to Ramos, in the comics, he portrays both The Hood and Parker Robbins. The hood he plays is incredibly potent, but it’s too strong for him. This immense power leaves him feeling overpowered and causes harm to his body, which is visible on the outside, and also affects him psychologically, emotionally, and physically. Despite this, the power has him hooked. He can’t seem to let go, saying something like “I can’t let it go.
The sneak peek of Ironheart at D23 indicates that Parker might guide Riri towards making unwise decisions as they execute heists to obtain pieces for a brand-new Ironheart suit. It remains unclear how the mystical cloak fits into this storyline, but Ramos is eager for viewers to witness his character’s ultimate version.
[The hood] transforms into an instrument of retribution for him, initially taking small steps such as theft in the comics. However, it escalates significantly, growing larger and more powerful, almost overwhelming for the character. Yet, I’m thrilled about it! I can’t wait for you all to witness our take on this character, as well as the impressive work of our art department, visual effects team, special effects makeup, and Jonah [Levy] and his team with the tattoos and scars – they truly outdid themselves.
Ironheart will premiere on Disney+ in 2025.
