As a film enthusiast who’s traversed through countless detective series and movies, I must say that the upcoming “Borderline” on Roku Channel has certainly piqued my interest! The intriguing plot, set against the backdrop of North Ireland and the Republic of Ireland, promises an engaging narrative.
Starting September 1st, the detective series “Borderline”, produced by Lionsgate Television, will make its U.S. debut on The Roku Channel.
In the television series, “straitlaced detective inspector Philip Boyd from Northern Ireland is paired with his unrefined counterpart, detective inspector Aoife Regan from the Republic of Ireland. Despite their initial reluctance, they are forced to cooperate due to a string of gruesome murders along the border, putting aside their personal and professional disagreements to solve the crimes.”
Eoin Macken portrays the character Philip, while Amy De Bhrun plays Aoife. Additionally, Lochlann O’Mearáin is part of the star-studded cast.
The TV show titled “Borderline” was developed by John Forte. Robert Quinn is the one who directs it, while Steve November and Mary Callery act as executive producers. This series is brought to you by ShinAwiL and Further South Productions in partnership with Screen Ireland and Lionsgate Television. Lionsgate handles its distribution globally. Starting September 2, MGM+ will debut “Borderline” in the U.K. and Ireland.
Macken is primarily recognized for his roles as Doc in the 2016 movie “Resident Evil: The Final Chapter,” Gavin in the NBC series “La Brea” from 2021 to 2024, and Karl in the show “Nightflyers,” which aired on Syfy and Netflix for one season in 2018.
In Seasons 5 and 6 of the police drama “Line of Duty,” which aired on BBC One and was produced by ITV, De Brún portrayed Steph Corbett. She has also worked on projects like the 2016 “Jason Bourne” movie, the series “Sanctuary: A Witch’s Tale” on AMC+ and Sundance Now, “Blackshore,” and Ireland’s RTÉ. Her upcoming role will be seen in the film “Small Things Like These,” led by Cillian Murphy.
Among several international or jointly produced series by Lionsgate, “Borderline” is one such title. This series can be seen on CBC in Canada and The CW in the United States, while “Son of a Critch” airs on Stan in Australia, along with “Prosper” and “Population 11”.
