Just like how characters in The Sims can meet their end, the Zois in InZoi aren’t invincible either. They can perish due to neglect or unfortunate accidents. It was recently disclosed at the InZoi showcase that this game boasts 16 distinct ways for a Zoi to kick the bucket, one of which is death by lack of recognition. The InZoi game director, Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim, revealed that a key aspect of the game involves dealing with the grim reaper, and players can expect numerous ways to say goodbye.
In InZoi, various modes of death are common due to the inherent risk that comes with life. For instance, in this game, a simple slip in the bathroom could lead to death, or consuming spoiled food might cause an unfortunate trip to the restroom, potentially resulting in fatal consequences. Similarly, repairing faulty electronics requires caution as there’s a risk of electrocution. This was conveyed by the source, PC Gamer.
In the game of InZoi, meeting your demise could also occur if a car strikes you. Therefore, it’s wise to exercise caution when near vehicles, Kjun advised. Upon release, players will have the option to control cars within the game from the settings menu as part of an experimental phase. However, cars in the game are programmed to drive autonomously by default.
Going a step further, InZoi will introduce an unprecedented form of character demise – one that Kjun mentioned has never been seen in a game before: “dying due to the craving for recognition.
The director noted that many individuals today derive satisfaction from being acknowledged by others, which underscores this point.
In another scenario, Kjun mentioned that the game may lead to an altercation with someone, which could spark a gossip mill – and these repercussions could be lethal. “I might receive a message about it, or one of my friends could inform me about the rumor,” Kjun explained. “If the rumor is unfavorable, it can reduce my desire for validation significantly. And if this decrease becomes too steep, it could potentially lead to death.
Previously mentioned, InZoi features a status system where individuals with unfavorable standing can reappear as spirits upon their demise, causing mischief among the living.
On March 28th, InZoi becomes available for early access on Steam for a starting price of $40. A series of free updates are planned as part of the post-release downloadable content strategy.
