InZoi Devs Remove Denuvo, Say They’re “Committed” To Mods

Tomorrow, InZoi is scheduled for early release, and InZoi Studio, its developer, aspires that their life simulator similar to The Sims can give EA’s dominating game a run for its money from the get-go. However, following a dispute over mods, one of the lead developers announced on Steam the decision to exclude Denuvo, an anti-piracy software, from the upcoming version, in an attempt to ease dissatisfaction.

On InZoi’s official Steam page, the game’s director and producer, Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim, announced that they will not incorporate Denuvo in the early-access launch, having consulted with international teams to make a well-considered decision. Kim stated that the initial intent of using Denuvo was for piracy prevention, but it was determined that its inclusion would not benefit the overall community in the long run.

Kim stated that discontinuing Denuvo might heighten the chance of the game getting pirated post-release. However, he also emphasized a potential advantage: Eliminating Denuvo would grant InZoi greater flexibility, enabling players to customize the game in novel ways and create unique experiences for others. Kim believes initiating this freedom from the start will foster innovative and enduring enjoyment within the community.

Kim additionally expressed remorse to the community for the uproar, acknowledging that their actions have generated worry and perplexity. He assured them that they are dedicated to regaining their trust as they progress in creating an optimal gaming experience with InZoi. Moreover, he emphasized that the team remains steadfast in making InZoi a game that is highly adaptable.

After a post on the Steam community forum, it was clarified that mods for InZoi would focus exclusively on cosmetic changes, such as skins and clothing. This decision is based on the game’s terms of service, which state that some provided content cannot be altered or customized at will by players, and that any modifications to such content are not allowed, whether in full or in part.

On March 27th, InZoi starts its early access phase on Steam. Last week, an InZoi Online Showcase livestream was broadcasted, revealing the team’s early concepts for the game and a comprehensive timeline of upcoming features over the next few weeks.
