As a dedicated fan, I can’t help but admit that we’ve all had our moments of morbid curiosity with The Sims series, where we’ve attempted various methods to bid farewell to our virtual characters. From starvation and drowning to setting them ablaze, the possibilities have always been intriguing. However, the upcoming rival to EA Maxis’ series promises to expand this darkly amusing aspect even further, offering an array of new ways to send our Sims off to their digital afterlife.
During a recent live broadcast, insights about various aspects of the game inZOI were shared, including its price and development plan. Notably, the game’s creator, Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim, highlighted that an essential aspect of the game is the incorporation of death as a key feature (as reported by PCGamer). This emphasis led to significant focus being placed on designing situations where the digital character might meet its end.
In the world of Inzoi, a variety of death scenarios exist due to the inherent risks in life. For instance, an accidental slip in the bathroom could prove fatal, as could consuming spoiled food leading to illness and potentially death. Additionally, there’s the risk of electrocution while repairing electronics, emphasizing the need for caution. Kim elaborated that there are approximately 16 distinct causes of death in this world.
One unique aspect that sets apart the game is the way a character can meet their end – being ostracized or losing respect among others to the point of death. The creator emphasizes that this feature is exclusive to the game called inZOI.
In the world of Inzoi, there’s an unusual phenomenon – a form of death triggered by a longing for recognition. In today’s society, many people find fulfillment in being acknowledged by others, and this concept mirrors that. For instance, suppose in Inzoi, I had a dispute with someone and the news spread. This could reach me via a text message or a friend relaying the rumor. If the rumor was negative, it could decrease my craving for acknowledgment. Should this decrease become too significant, it might lead to a form of death.
It’s intriguing that our character won’t die permanently, much like how characters in The Sims series can come back as ghosts. In the game inZOI, this is also expected, as the character is intended to reappear after death as a spirit to make amends for their wrongdoings.
Ultimately, Kim noted that while cars can be driven in the Early Access version of inZOI, they are equally hazardous. This feature is currently undergoing experimentation and may be disabled at any point via the menu settings. Consequently, the journey will proceed autonomously if this function remains active.
The opportunity to begin playing inZOI ahead of its official release on Steam commences on March 28th. Prior to this date, enthusiasts can preview the character creation tool and construction mode at no cost.
